Thought I'd dredge up this old thread and see if anyone has been by the 1000 islands casino or any of the other Ontario charity casinos lately.

I dropped in there there on a whim while passing by about a month ago. It was the middle (and I mean the middle ) of the night so the tables were closed. It's in a nice location, nice part of Ontario to visit. I wandered around a little but didn't get much of a look at the tables (they were cordoned off) dropped a few bills into a nickels slot machine, betting every line, won $90.00 in half an hour! Hopped back in my car and was off.

I'd like to go back there but am interested to hear people's experiences with Blackjack and Spanish 21 in the evenings. I've heard that it's tough to get a spot at a table at all on friday/saturday (so wonging is hardly an option) and have heard conflicting reports about CSMs at the Charity casinos: some people saying they were on every table for a while, but then started to disappear after people complained.

Anyone been by there recently? Busy? Are comps possible? Is there any possibility of finding a $10.00 or $15.00 table any time other than tuesday morning?

Well, OLG does have a players' card program, the "Winner's circle rewards" winnerscirclerewards.ca but it's... not exactly generous. There is also, as far as I can tell, no way to earn points for table play.

I have a feeling they're not allowed to give out free alcohol, that seems like the sort of rule that would exist at a gov't owned casino in a province where there are no non-state-owned liqouor stores... but surely there is a host or someone on the floor that can recognize and incentivize big players?

There was a recent news story about comps on Ontario: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/casinos-spend-millions-on-comps/article1310163/singlepage/ but I don't think any of the casinos mentioned are OLG charity casinos.

games are mehish. Not a lot of tables but it's not too hard to get a heads up or short handed game. 5-100, 10-100. just a couple open tables. Poker is okay. Games just like pretty much all OLG joints actually.

I believe you are referring to the Port Perry Casino in this thread.

Many of the tables use C.S.M.'s but you can find 8 deckers [S17] with generally 2 decks cut off (mostly in the evening).

Crowded conditions dominate.

Penetration varies somewhat by dealer. Tables are mostly $15 to $100. The Spanish21 tables are also C.S.M.

They are known to move the cut card up on skilled players, and to raise the table minimums while mid-shoe.

With the price of gas being what it is, this venue ought not earn a place on your itinerary, unless you are passing by.

Not the case. Great Blue Heron casino is the casino in Port Perry. 1000 Island OLG casino is near the border on HWY 401. CBJN doesn't have EVERY casino listed in its pages.

I have not been there in a few months, but will be going next week (I hope).

I think there is four BJ tables, min 5 to max 300.

8-deck, 2 to 2 1/2 decks cut off, S17 RSA only once, DAS, split up to four hands. 3:2 pay out on BJ's.

Not a great game, but a very friendly place to play if in the area. Never really tried to count there, just used basic strategy and enjoyed myself a little.

Good luck if you go. Report back.
