Mount Airy Pocono

I decided to go to the Mount Airy Pocono and I was so excited to see the Early surrender option (that's what they say on their website" early surrender") Unfortunately the the dealer told me that they don't offer something like that, (he probably did not even know the difference between es and regular surrender) I called the pit boss and he is trying to tell me the only thing I can do is take the insurance. What should I do, do I have a case ?

They have had that on their website since they added table games. They don't know the difference between ES and LS. They think that what we know as LS is called ES. This has been posted on different threads many times. There is probably something here with regard to false advertising but I'm not sure what kind of "damages" one could claim from it. Someone should bring this to the attention of someone in charge to take the false advertising from their website. Have at it.

I've been there once, made 44 units in 9 hours. Nice 6 deck game but pen 1.5 to 2 decks. I did not table hop so a small sample of dealers. Not many tippers up there from what I could see, tips may help get some skinnier cuts. Again a small sampling.

They even have $5 six deck tables with the same good rules and reasonable penetration.

Highly recommended for low stakes players, noobs, and those with modest bankrolls.

Just don't spread to x40 there like I did. No way I could bet less than a $100 at a high count. Couldn't help myself

I believe the reason there is such heat and paranoia at Mt. Airy is that someone convinced them they have early surrender, and they heard horror stories about early surrender from AC in the 80's, therefore they believe that their games are extremely vulnerable. I'm sure there is some guy there walking around insisting to this day that they have early surrender so they have to be ever vigilant. "Oh no, that's early surrender, it's when you can surrender before you take a card."

Remember that when Mt. Airy first opened they balked at allowing surrender even though state law required it. I guess they figured the state gaming commission would just say "Whatever" and let them do what they want, and the players would forget about it if they stuck to the story. You can see this attitude in evidence with their Lucky Ladies bet- they paid a premium for the LL sidebet on all of their tables, and then refused to make any money with it by limiting it to $5.

Maybe they will change that some day, but it is still better $5 than nothing.I love those 5 and 10 dollar tables that is pretty rare to find here in PA. The bad thing is the pen which is below expectations, I seen one dealer cutting almost 4 decks out of 8 :eek:but of course you get some good dealers to where is worth to play the game.

The whole surrender option is still weird to me, how they even get away with it for false advertising ?

I don't know if the $5 to $10 min is that rare in PA. I was just in Rivers a couple of Saturdays ago in the afternoon and there were a lot of $5 mins. Granted at least half of them were CSMs, and probably another quarter of them were itables, but there was a lot of that low minimum, and some empty seats too.

I actually laughed out loud at the LL max bet when I saw it. Down in Philly I bet they make a lot more money on the side bet than the game itself.

Rabbit they use 6 decks not 8.

I was walking through an AC casino a few years ago and saw a $5 game and thought what the heck. Half way through the shoe the running count went over 30. Then I realized what I had done to myself playing at a $5 table. Small waiting bet but then you couldn't really bet a lot at a high count.

I raised my bet some, lost a few hands and then really started fuming at the table (for show). So I pulled out a wad of cash and starting betting two hands of $200 for an 80 to 1 spread. The rest of the shoe went much better.

Needless to say, I didn't stay for the next shoe.

Good point about that place. Its still the only casino I know where some of the dealer still calls out a player surrender :confused: They've gotten less stupid about it lately kind of. And they consider surrendering an AP move.

I found a fair few places in Vegas do this. Yes, they do consider surrender an AP (or at least knowledgeable) move.

Probably some old crusty AC guy thought late surrender was the same thing as the old "Early Surrender" that was required in AC in the early days. They shouldlet you surrender, if they don't go directly to the PA gaming desk and they will tell the casino they have to let you surrender. (and possibly refund your money if you lost the hand).

Even though most in the masses don't follow them, surrender instructions are on basic strategy cards.

Everybody knows BS is a hoax. The casinos designed it to insure their long term success. Ask any ploppie.
