The artithmetic mean is the arithmetic mean, and the quadratic mean is the quadratic mean. Can't imagine why you would use quadratic means. Unless you've invented a sine wave progression and want to know the RMS amplitude.

He's just talking about a short cut method of calculating SD/round in a BJ sim, which is a bit of a problem. I discuss this in the print version of my book. I couldn't use his short cut efficiently in CVData, because CVData allows the user to create oddball side bets, which makes a table of bets impractical.
