No. Mistake proof is what the games are.
What you will win has been predetermined by the "God in the machine". There is no skill or lack of skill to change it. You can't improve it, but you also can't ruin it. It is not a game of skill, it's a game of pure luck. I just think a game of pure luck that pays 90% or more is better than the alternative( Broadway Poker) which pays much less.
If I were a slot playing ploppy in NYC, my choices for a Friday night were a five hour plus drive to AC, with the associated gas costs and $10-15 in tolls or a twenty minute drive to Yonkers, then I'm saving the wear and tear on my car.

Imagine if BJ was played like Baccart, and BS was mandatory. The dealer dealt and set each hand perfectly according to BS. The casino would now have a guarenteed profit, but the average player would do a hell of a lot better than he does now.
Thats my take on VLM poker machines.

shadroch,

It is just 90 miles from Manhattan, and quite a bit less from Manhattan to A.C.

It takes nearly 5 hrs. to drive from A.C. to Albany, NY

Also Philadelphia is about a 45 minute drive to A.C.

Why do you constantly look for fights?
If I go to AC on a Friday night, its two and a half hour there, and two and a half hours back. Thats five hours. It's also 112 miles from the Midtown Tunnel to Sands AC. Yes, the distance is shorter taking the Brooklyn/ Staten Island route, but it takes much longer, and adds considerably more in tolls.

The Sands?! Don't forget the added expense of getting to your time machine

Also, Flash, it's about an hour from Phila, not 45 minutes.

Default Speaking of the Sands

What's the latest and greatest news on what is going to happen to that piece of dirt that used to be the Sands? Is "Pinnacle Entertainment" simply on hold or have they backed out altogether on slapping a new casino up in it's place?

There's another little "choice piece of dirt" that is between the boardwalk hall and Tropicana... is anyone speculating on that? We here at BJINFO need to all chip in and put up our OWN casino on one of those pieces of dirt. That way you guys won't whine and bicker with each other about driving so much since we can at that point all be like Donald Trump and simply take the damn helicopter to work!

I can see it now!!!! "TARZAN'S CASINO"...all the cocktail waitresses dress up like Jane in rather sexy loincloth style ensemble for that crude, yet still strangely elegent sort of look (in the style that Jane wore in "Tarzan's Mate" which was considered too "over the top" at the time and ultimately got changed to a considerable less revealing loincloth ensemble in subsequent Tarzan movies). The jungle decorum would be a totally new casino design concept and we would offer GREAT games, the best blackjack available in Atlantic City and slots that are a percentage point payout higher than everyone else so we can bolster that claim in advertising that "We offer the best slot payouts of any Atlantic City casino" sort of thing...our innovativeness would bring breaths of life back to an ailing AC.....

It's all very interesting to think about but I know that Shad and Flash would likely still find some array of minuscule and ridiculous point(s) to prove to one another at our board meetings...

shadroch,

A character flaw that I have is my compulsion to correct what (I imagine) is incorrect.

The very last thing that I would ever want to do is to pick a fight.

Pinnacle is on hold.

You may have noticed Revel's 2 towers just north of Showboat, progressing quickly. Last I read, then will be completing the exteriors, but interior construction is on hold.

You see thats your problem. Stop trying to correct what you IMAGINE to be incorrect. Either you know it or you don't. If I correct you in supposed factual statements that you make, like in the Atlantis thread, based on my true knowledge of the situation, be thankful that I take the time to give you a chance to learn. Maybe thats my character flaw, I have the compulsion to correct what I KNOW to be incorrect.

Your character flaw is your inability to see that nobody gives a rat's ass about the fine details that do nothing to enhance the meaning of the (meaningful) fact, that when I stayed at The Atlantis, I was surprised by a number of things, including their refusal to cut me a check upon departure, even though I bought in only with traveler's checks.

Few of us use traveler's checks; but being told that one is comped to a room and then finding out upon departure that (non-trivial) taxes, housekeeping and electricity are (uncomped) EXTRAS is very annoying.

My flaws include run-on sentences, mixed metaphors, and responding when I should know better.
