So some friends take me out for my birthday...

and we wind up at a national steakhouse chain. Dinner is great, company is better and just as we are thinking about dessert, out comes about a dozen staffers clapping their hands and chanting some idiotic birthday rhyme, with one of them holding a small birthday cake.
As they circle our table, our waiter leans in and says " I can tell you are not into this. Do you want the short version?" I nod yes, and to my monentary relief, he tells the group I prefer the short version.
With that, they all get on their knees and start singing Happy Birthday.

Earlier this year friends met for my birthday at an old histirc buildning that used to house the San Clemente city hall and police station. The hostess led us to our private dining room and then motioned for me to enter first... and {{CLANG!}} I turned around and I was locked in a jail cell! The private dining room was a cell! And they all shouted SURPRISE!!

How does that relate to your post? Did you read the post that preceded mine? Yours is about a fun birthday celebration, ZG is about being jailed on his birthday by "friends". Get a sense of humor will you. I make many jokes on this forum. I don't know why some people insist on taking everything out of context to cause problems that are not there.

What did you say that for. You will only encourage him. I thought it was obvious whose friends treated the birthday boy in an unfriendly way. It sounds like ZG took it in fun though, as I am sure they intended.
