any $5 tables in AC?

You know they're not hurting

When I can't even get a comped room on the weekdays despite trying 2 days ahead of time! Never had this problem before!

So I know I started this thread asking for $5 tables, but I'd be happy with some $10 tables at least. I haven't been around AC much yet, so far just The Borgata and Tropicana. The Borgata has that one pit with the $5 table and two $10 tables, but they're all 8 deck and the pen is horrible. The other side has the 6 deck tables, but the lowest they had was $15 and all those tables were packed too. No chance for wonging in. Oh, and all this was around 1pm on a Wednesday. The Trop had two $10 tables until around 4pm, but they were also packed and no chance for wonging.
I thought I was doing pretty well the past couple of months, but this was the worst trip ever. I lost 90% of my bankroll. Tell me I'm not the only one this has happened to. I guess I need some help with my play. Any guidance you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated.
I plan to go back tomorrow. Any suggestions for where and when I should go?

Borgata crowds and The Tropicana, etc.

The only quasi-sure way to avoid crowded conditions at the Borgata is to play there on "Graveyard Shift".

When business is slow the Tropicana will usually offer several $5 eight deck tables [and $10 tables] all with S17 and pen'
that is partially dealer-dependent, but will float between 1.6 and 2.1 decks cut off almost always.

Now that Carl Icahn has bought The Tropicana, it means that playing conditions may worsen while the casino gets cleaned up a bit
Icahn is a "Corporate Raider" who does "hostile takeovers" and such; so he will do what he does best,
as he did recently with "The Stratosphere" in Las Vegas - he will "flip" it --
selling it when the market improves.

All this time I have been going to Borgata I did not know they had 8 deck games. Not that I prefer 8 deck to 6 deck, but if they are cutting 80%, it would we worth playing. Where are these tables? Did they move the $5 table? I have seen it in the middle area by the cashier and also over toward the Metropole, but did someone say it was relocated to near the poker room?

The 8 deck games are by the poker room and by the $5 table which is also 8 decks. The 6 deck games are in the middle of the casino. I've only seen 1 $5 table at the Borgata for the last year or so. They used to have 2.

I just returned from Borgata today. The $5 table is by the Metropolitan bistro, which is as far from the poker as you can get. That's why I was confused, because the last several times, it has been there as well. Before that it was close to the main cashier's cages. I wonder if they had it temporarily near the poker room when you were there. And it is 8 deck, as you say, as well as the other blackjack games near it, I think all $15 games. There are dozens of 6 deck games, in three locations--beginning near the shopping mall where Starbucks is, near the cashier's cages in the middle of the casino, and between the poker room and the Bread and Butter cafe on the opposite side of the building from the hotel elevators.

Between the poker room and the Bread and Butter cafe are 8D, not 6, unless they changed it back since Thursday.

No kidding. I almost exclusively play in the cashier area and the area down the main promenade, so that's good to know, if I ever happen to stray down that way. I only like 8 deck when they give you extreme pen. Yesterday I got a mixed bag of pen in the overnight hours at the 6 deck tables. It ranged from 1 1/2 to 1 1/4 to 1 decks cut. Not as good as I experienced two weeks ago. It's a mixed bag for whatever reason. One dealer seemed to make it a mission to cut only one deck. Could he/she be a counter-sympathizer? lol He/she did seem to be extremely good-natured, and I would guess that dealers who are good-natured and also know that lousy penetration hurts players would be apt to cut us some slack. That's what I would do--if allowed.

Aslan, I think you might have misread what I wrote. I was trying to say that there are two sections in the casinos now where there are 8 deck games. One by the poker room and one by the $5 table which as you said is by the Metropolitan. I wonder how much longer it'll be before they go all 8 decks.

that's actually not bad for them. I remember when they were cutting off 2 decks not too long ago.

I hope never. That's a scary thought. It must be the same strategy they appear to be using in Vegas. They assume that most low dollar players are oblivious to any difference between 3 to 2 and 6 to 5, between CSMs and ASMs, and between 8 deck and 6 deck. They are afraid, however, that the high dollar players, and even some of the low dollar players, will take their play elsewhere, so they generally have both.

Sometimes, especially in the daytime, I see two decks cut. Also, I have seen it change to two when there is big money at the table. Who'd a thought!?:laugh:
