The reality is blindingly simple.

Casinos are taxed.

6:5 BJ increases profits.

Increased profits mean increased tax revenues for the slimy whoremongers in the State House.

EDITED: TYPO had typed H17. I meant 6:5 BJ

wow, even zender commented on the sitch in CO.

on a kind of side note, I was recently at a corporate party/function a client was having and he had hired a party casino crew as entertainment. we used play money and at the end of the night, there were auctions for fancy toys. what was weird to me was that even though this was play money, the crew was instructed to payout 6;5. half did, and the other half didn't. It was play money fer chrissake. but I asked a crewmember why and she told me it was becoming the industry standard in casinos, so we try to keep the experience similar to a real casino.

Evolution guys....learn HC or die.

So far I've only seen Golden Mardi Gras offer 6:5 single deck and only during certain hours. Amusingly, the article mentions how "...one of the best places to play blackjack in Black Hawk may be at Golden Gates."
He mentions that because it's the only casino that has surrender, and has low minimums.

He's the same clueless reporter who titled the original article about 6:5, "Casinos request new rule to lose less money" or something to that effect.

BTW, Golden Mardi Gras got a new table games mgr a few months ago and he's destroying the place. Changes he's made: 6:5, NDAS on DD, 8D shoe.

I've heard dealers complain that volume is way down. Gee, I wonder why. Hopefully after a few months of bad numbers, they'll fire him and things will go back to the way they were.
