Has anyone else noticed this? Sat down to a game yesterday with 60% pen, played 2 hands moved to another table on a new shoe. Dealer cut off at 55%. Unbelievable... Eventually found a` good `dealer with 70% pen,got an absolutely amazing count of plus 10! Lost 5 maximum bets in a row- not my day lol:eek:

I noticed the dire penetration in a Gala recently, with a dealer that used to consistently give 90%. I walked as soon as he cut, if this keeps up I'm considering calling it a day.

I don`t even bother with the gala`s anymore. Bunch of muppets. They are consistently serving up a rubbish game with maximum 65% penetration.
Pickings are definetely getting slimmer:confused:
Thinking of doing a road trip up north.
Or taking up poker full time:eyepatch:lol

Tezza, which Gala's are serving up 65% pen? What the hell is happening?!

Prob best if you PM me.

Given that there are hardly any counters out there, they are well and truly shooting themselves in the foot.

I was at Napoleons last week and the dealer was consitently cutting less than one deck off (yes, less, 75 - 80% pen). He was the black guy (the only one there?), from Africa (I don't think he's brit born - I mention it in case you see him).

I was chatting to him, commenting to other players what a slick action he had when dealing (i.e. I wanted to keep him dealing the cards slowly so I could count easier!), and generally making nice small talk.

I'm not sure for the houses' management it's even an issue? Wherever I play it always seems to be dependent on individual dealers - some were just too idle to be more precise with the cut card, while one I saw I'm sure knew exactly what the effect would be for the punters (he was very precise about cutting away c40% of the cards).

One idea might be to set up one of the ploppies (one of the ethnic Chinese regulars making larger bets) to complain that the dealer spends too much time shuffling up and not enough dealing - especially on the four deckers. Alternatively, make a lot of noise about not travelling to London to watch dealers shuffle and the fact you can play for longer between shuffles next door (although that won't work in Napoleons as they know they offer the best game in Town).

I personally do think and spoke to a few dealers of gala, they'd only give out bad pen if they suspect people can keep track/counter of the cards..........

seriously, once they do that chill out from the joint for a bit, this is the mistake i made!

Just come back from a night out on me tot; wife and kids away for the week and lets face it, when the cat's away the mice will play, BJ!

Coming back to the point, started off at Napoleons but couldn't really sit down. The best penetration I saw after 40 mins of hanging around was 1.5 decks - and this was only once. And the tables were crowded. Bollox to that I thought and left for a couple of casino's in Mayfair. Got my arse kicked in the first and I left for a second one 'cos I wasn't winning any hand.

Same thing happened in the second, however, things changed after I perservered and I made up what I lost in the first, what I was down in the second + 4 units extra at which point I wiped my brow and went home. Will continue tomorrow.

The guy next to me was flat betting 1 unit in 1 box then spreading to 2 boxes with 15 units each on a TC of +2 or above. No heat. Go figure.

He got a dream hand once too. Large bet out, splits against dealer six, doubles one, splits the other then was able to double both of those as well. Dealer busted.

That is now a rumour. Penetration sucks, there are 7 spots per table, it's crowded, so everyone is nicking your cards ...

The only thing going for it are the fast dealers, then again this is watered down by them having to shuffle so often.

A great shame - I like Napoleons, as does my missus. In hindsight, I don't think that one or two individuals muttering something to the effect they're off to play a better game elsewhere in town will have an effect, as it's clear that Naps caters for the degenerate gambling types from Chinatown - and they'll still play even if three decks are cut off.

Perhaps I should save my pennies with a view to playing higher table mins in other places?

Napololeans

I've never seen the pen go above 70% at Naps, but have found the staff to be very knowledgable and friendly and you play more hands per hour than any other club in London i've played at! (and no I don't work for them!)

So why are you complaining about being half-shoed all the time . . . .

That image don't last when you play 40+ hrs / week :p.

TBH when we were playing there, the pen was around 55-60% ish, wasn't great. If there was a 6d game with 80% pen i would of jumped at it !

Mine was better, although it varied by dealer from c60%ish to 75%-80%. The nice, super-efficient, young lady consistently only cut one deck off the back. Still better than what I'm use to further north.
