Isn't JC a poker player?
1988 WSOP champ etc etc.

Kevin Spacey is playing whoever that guy is that taught the MIT team in the early 90s. His real name is never used in any books or tv shows i've watched...anyone know who it is for real?

I believe the character of “Micky Rosa” was a combination of JP Massar (Mr. M) and John Chang (not the poker player from Rounders), two of the original founders of the first successful MIT team.

Also, there will be a few cameo appearances in the film. Bill Kaplan, the guy who trained them and taught them how to play successfully (and one of the original team founders), will be in the background of the “Chinatown Casino” scene (or as I call it, the "Winner winner chicken dinner" scene). Also, the kid who the main character “Kevin Lewis” is based on (I don’t think his real name has been outed yet so I won’t mention it) will be playing a BJ dealer. The DVD will also have lots of interviews with the director, actors and writers.

No need to be coy Sonny - it's already on wiki.
It looks like Jeff is officially out. He gives his real name in the credits of the movie but I wasn’t sure if it was public information yet. Look for him in some of the Las Vegas scenes towards the end.

I've seen pictures of Jeff Ma in the newspaper doing interviews admitting he was Kevin Lewis and promoting some business venture he has called Pro Trade so its ok to mention him by name.

Yeah he is definitely outed and is exploiting it. He gives away signed copies of the book as protrade prizes.

Ken Smith;s about to ban the whole bunch a yous for outing in this thread! The rules have been clarified - this is no different, much worse actually, then that time recently when all I did was mention a holecard scammer's name, without refence to his handle, after that very same person outted himself, here, making reference to that you know who hotel where something happened...

Anyone know what/ who I;m talking about? zg

No I don't. Could you please clarify by explaining the situation and mentioning his real name, handle, the hotel, his SSN, height, and weight? Plus his, make, model and license plate number of his car, home address and include his most recent photo with front and profile view?

All of the above just sent via PM. A close study of the rules reveals they don't apply to PM. zg

Re: Kevin Spacey's character in "21"

Is the part played by Kevin Spacey in real life Johnny Chang?
According to a Boston Globe article on whether the book "Bringing Down the House" should be called nonfiction, Mezrich says the role of Micky Rosa as played by Kevin Spacey was mainly fictitious yet partially a composite of three people: Bill Kaplan, the founder and leader of the Team in the 80's and early 90's; JP Massar, one of the original players on the team who then went on to co-manage the team with Kaplan; and John Chang, a player trained by Kaplan and Massar in the 80's, who continued to play in the mid-90's with some of the other players on the team.

In reality, there was no MIT professor who started, ran, and bankrolled the team. In fact, Kaplan was a Harvard College and Harvard Business School grad. None of the three individuals above, of course, ever stole from the players or resembled the unscrupulous character played by Spacey. This story line along with nearly every other story line of the movie were simply made up by the screen writers to market what turned out to be a blockbuster movie.
