Went to my usual hunting ground last night and was quite amazed to find that you now must be at LEAST a gold level signature club member to receive free drinks in the Monte Carlo room. Despite me sitting there with a stack of black and green chips, I was promptly asked for $2.90 just for a hot chocolate. I could get free booze there just weeks ago! Crown just goes downhill every year, whether it be in their gaming or customer service. Anyway, I walked up several units so I hope they find the $2.90 they so desperately desire elsewhere.

And I thought that Crown couldn't possibly get any worse.

Silly me.

Viva Las Vegas and Viva Macau. I'm never gambling in Australia until we get better casinos.

StudiodeKadent, tell me about it! Casino monopoly = horrendous player treatment. I'm surprised they haven't implemented a no mid shoe entry policy yet. Every high rolling Asian in there is more than content to play from start to finish, wagering between $5 and $25 on perfect pairs also! They don't need any mid shoe type clientele! Knock on wood they don't, however...

AussiePlayer, I sometimes use my card. Sometimes I don't. I used to be a dealer at Crown, and a fellow friend I trained with who still deals high limit BJ recommended I didn't. However, there has been much debate on this topic with some advocating for rated play, and some who say it is a definite no no. I think with Crown being the size that it is, would be pretty silly to take low limit counting as a threat. I use my card for A LOT of things, including meals etc. So they know I spend money elsewhere. I also give the card to my friends or parents or even parents of friends to use on the pokies or other -EV games, so it makes me look like a regular gambler. Not to mention they are boosting up my points for free parking, meals, and most importantly, CASH! I have received a couple hundred free dollars from Crown through the use of my card on dinners or from people using it for rated play.

Pen is VERY dealer dependent. Went on Saturday night for a quick session and saw a dealer cut about 3/4 of a deck on a $50 table, yet the dealer at the $100 was cutting a tad over 2! I only go for dealers who cut 1.5 or less. Spread is potentially 1-40. I spread 1-10.

Yeah mid show allowed, I only Wong, in fact. They're ASM based but often break down, manual shuffling involves 2 passes.
Crown:
wong in, mid shoe entry very often-----draw heat?
the rule is no soft double, S17, no hole card, DAS, RSA----right?
pen.---average 4.5d/6d ?

Not much heat at Crown to be honest. I play their Premier BJ game, it's 8 deck, H17, BJ 3:2, DOA, DAS, Split to 3, no resplit of aces. Pen is 6.5-7/8.

Premier BJ operates 3 tables in the Maple room and 8 tables in the Monte Carlo room. Limits range from $30-$100. Wonging is perfectly acceptable, I bet $30-2x$150.

Pen is usually 6.5, yes. 7-7.25 is rare, but sometimes found. No hole card, original bet lost on dealer BJ. There is a burn card after the shuffle, viewable upon request.

I'm wondering if anyone has any info on any blackjack games offered in either the riverside or teak rooms, are they the same as monte carlo and maple room premium blackjack, of do they stand on s17 like the mahogany room?

The Riverside and Teak rooms only contain Pokies. They did have the upstairs area dedicated to a table games Teak room, with BJ, however, this is now open to all and contains Asian games only, i.e. Pai Gow, Baccarat etc. The only place you will find Premium BJ is the Monte Carlo and Maple rooms. Mahogany is S17, however, you need to be a Platinum level Signature Card holder, or be from interstate and have at least 10k in cash with you.
