won 6 max bets

I had the best hand of my career yesterday, winning 6 max bets, splitting 8's twice for 3 hands and receiving double down opportunities (one soft 19) on each hand. The dealer was kind enough to break, just as he was (ideally) supposes to do. :) It is so nice when things go just as they are supposed to go. Anyway that was the most money I have had on the table from a single hand so far, topping 5 max bets, when I split to 3 hands with 2 doubles earlier this year. I lost 4 of those bets and pushed one, so this was a far more sucessful outcome. I pride myself in staying calm and not showing any emotion during my play, but it was hard not to get excited when things go that well. I am sure many of you guys have had larger swings coming from a single hand, but this was my best so far.

To put it in perspective, the amount won on this hand was 25% of my yearly winnings from my second year of play, 2005, when I was playing much smaller stakes.

Nice win - always great when it works right

I too have recently had my best hand so far, winning 5 max bets after splitting and doubling.

Also had my worst hand, losing 4 (super) max bets from two hands. What can I say, the TC was +12 with 1.25 to go on a 6D shoe, so I added another $50 to each max bet hand. Got a 20 and an 11 vs, oh no, an A. Insurance - no blackjack (what??), doubled the 11 and pulled a nine. Damn dealer didn't behave, 3 in the hole and I think you can figure out the card he pulled......

I see more of those things than the great wins so it's nice to see the good guys win in the end.

Congrats Jason,

paddy

Where's your discipline? A max bet IS a max bet.

Says who? When you're betting way below Kelly with less than 0.5% RoR and opportunities present themselves.....didn't work out but I'm not losing sleep over it and the BR is still in place.

Thanx guys. I too have done the "super max bet" on occasion. Since I set my max bet in an effort to try to stay under a certain betting level that will drawl additional heat, rather than BR limitations, I have thrown out a little additional a couple times when the count was super high and I felt my low profile efforts had failed aready for that session. I remember one time when the count was super high and the pit guy was right there watching me win several large wagers, I said something like "only a couple hands left, might as well go for broke and try to get even". (he doesn't know results from earlier sessions) I am pretty sure he didn't buy it and it didn't buy me a damn thing, but it never hurts to try, right?

Yes, I was messing with you a little too. Truth is, I've done the same thing myself (more than once) and been burned on it each time, so I do consider it a lack of discipline on MY part and tend to beat myself up when the results aren't positive.

Too bad you and Automatic Monkey weren't playing EMFH these past three weeks. He just had the worst hands he ever had with max bet out! http://www.blackjackinfo.com/bb/showthread.php?t=20124

I always tell newbies, which you are definitely not, not to spend it all, since it's just part of the roller coaster ride that rises high and falls low, all the while slowly inching upward.

Anyway, congratulations!! :1st: Meanwhile, I am still waiting for the miracle positive count where I win every hand with max bet out for some stupendous amount. :celebrate

A buddy of mine on here keeps telling me it is so great to hit that big one. I've hit it in reverse a couple of times. :( I want to see the other side of the bell curve for a change!
