"Easy BlackJack Cheat Sheet" - FREE in the iPhone App Store

Although this is partly a plug for our FREE iPhone application, this is *not* an automated message, and I will read all replies.

The app is currently buried in the App Store, so you'll have to pass around the name or the link if you want to share it.

You can search for the name on your phone, or download from the Apple App Store via the following link from your computer:
https://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=327023361&mt=8

Don't bother buying one of the paid basic strategy apps - they're not much more than the free cards the casinos give you. Also, they don't help with memorization... and since the casino won't let you use an iPhone at the table, they're of limited use.

Easy BlackJack Cheat Sheet is meant to help you LEARN the strategy by me telling you my memory aids and organizing the data for you. Nothing too extravagant... no smoke and mirrors, just a little bit of common sense and creativity packaged into a free app.

----------------------

Back when I learned Basic Strategy, I used one of those giant grids of colors, letters, etc. It was such a pain that I had to break the information down into patterns so I could memorize it.

My business partner and I recently started Calanoa Software LLC for iPhone Application development, and we're working on a few projects simultaneously.

One idea was to test out the ad revenue from the free app market space... and I chose to publish my memory aids for Basic Strategy as a free app.

First disclaimer for the folks here: I'm sure many of you are meticulous experts... the information is accurate relative to what I personally memorized several years back for multi-deck play. I'd be glad to add features in the future to tweak the play based on differing rules, etc., however that isn't really the purpose of the app.

The purpose is to make Basic Strategy memorization for the general multi-card play easier, and I believe it does that. The changes required for special cases and rules should be memorized as well, and I can include them in a future release if there's interest. We didn't want to spend a lot of time building something we thought *might* be useful to a large number of people if there isn't interest.

So... that being said, please feel free to try it out. If you have any issues, please just email me directly instead of posting negative feedback and I'll do my best to help fix whatever I can. Positive feedback is more than welcome!

Please feel free to share it with anyone you think it may help.

Most likely you've got a buddy that you've tried to explain Basic Strategy to, someone that doesn't want to work at it, but you'd like to get them set up so they won't lose their shirt. Possibly someone going to Vegas and you'd like to help them have a good time - they can learn this on their flight much more easily than they can learn it from a book.

Thanks for the support... I read over the guidelines, and hopefully you all don't consider this unsolicited spam...

As I mentioned, I'll read all feedback, and do my best to respond. I have a lot of ideas on how to enhance what is currently a very simple app with some great info... but that'll only happen if there's enough interest as we have a few other very lucrative apps under development at the same time.

Hope you all like it, and appreciate it being free :)

While this post was initially deleted as spam, I'm giving it a second chance since the app is free and the publisher contacted me by email looking for guidance. The usual cautions apply.

Thanks Ken -

Much appreciated...

Again, we're definitely interested in whether or not people trying to memorize basic strategy find the information helpful.

Looks like you have a great following - so thanks again.

Dumb question shouldn't be in this forum, belongs in General BJ, if at all.

Thanks for the feedback...

Sorry about wrong forum -

As a side note, at least one person liked it - the other was me ;)

BTW - if anyone would like any additional features - let me know.

There have been a good number of downloads so far in just the first day, and if the interest is there, we'd be glad to invest some more time in it while keeping the app free.

Thanks,
Cary Bakker

Almost a thousand dloads of Easy Blackjack Cheat Sheet

So far, the uptake has been great - almost a thousand downloads so far!

What's interesting is the distribution worldwide - about half from US, and half from international countries all over the place!

We've got an update to the app coming - found a few little typos and what not and need to get them corrected.

BTW - Zengrifter... I read your interview - pretty amazing stuff. I agree with your point of view on the subconscious being aware of much more than we think - resulting in "hunches" and "intuition" that we consciously think is unwarranted. Reminds me of what Malcolm Gladwell wrote about in Blink.

In light of that, I can understand your response to my original post ;)

I counted for a while maybe 12 or 13 years back...just the simple HiOpt-I when I first got started... added an Ace side count, and some minor basic strategy alterations in a few count scenarios, but never tried much after that... I simply didn't have the bankroll to swing bets enough, and didn't have anyone to team up with to help at the time...Multi-deck shoes seemed to take an eternity to get a positive count :/ and then the ShuffleMasters came out. Nice to see you found a way around some of them too - kind of a reminder that there's always an edge somehow....

Will probably be lurking around for a while - you've kinda sparked the interest in the black art again...
