Small STake tournaments?

#1
Hi, i'm very new to black jack but getting quite hooked on it now as there is so much strategy invovled I had no idea about. My plan is to learn:

Basic Strategy
Simple Red7 count
and use the 2,4,5 rule

However, as good as casino Verite is, I would love to participate on small stake (<£10 entry fee) tournaments online. Primarily for practice against real people whilst at the same time haveing the fun of gambling real money on a very low budget.

Where online can I play small stake tournaments? Preferably sites where card counting is possible (ive heard in some online "tournamnets" card counting is possible and allowed).

I am unaware of any online tournaments that do not shuffle after every hand, making counting useless. For regular play, the Cryptologic casinos used to deal a game where 2 decks out of 6 were dealt. Perhaps they still do.

In any event, counting is not very important in tournament play. Tournament betting and playing strategy is far more critical. See the articles here in the menu at left, and the sister site and message forum at https://www.blackjacktournaments.com/

Blackjack21 and GameAccount both deal from a (virtual) shoe in their tournaments. In some cases it's just 2 decks, meaning counting might conceivably be beneficial, at least for strategy decisions, but I have never attempted to incorporate counting into my tournament play.

Thankyou for hte response guys I will check out the sites you mention. I feel card counting may help be decide when to place a bigger bet. In tournament BJ do you still have to place bets BEFORE you get your cards?

Alas, yes you do!

You'll find lots of useful information over at the blackjacktournaments.com site, including extensive discussions that have taken place about the merits of counting or not in tournaments.

From what you've said so far, I'm not sure if you are looking for elimination or accumulation-style tournaments. Counting to determine your bet size would be more useful in the latter, so long as the tournament consisted of enough hands, but even then any benefit is likely to be marginal.

(The two sites I mentioned offer elimination-style tournaments.)
