I thing I was cheated

Today I was playing at Desert D. in Tucson, and in the begining was just perfect, but I played around 5 hours and I just get 6 BJ and the rest of the hands were awful after loose 150 dls. I just quit.

I know sometimes there is a bad shoe but hand after hand getting 5,7 and 12 I don't know what else could happend there.

Somebody had a similar experince.

I was in the DD a couple months ago, checking out the 3 deck game.
pen was lousy, food was barely passable.

from what I saw, there was no cheating by the house.
150 bucks in 5 hours isnt bad.

btw I hadnt been in tucson in a long time. I still dont like it. some things never change. I ran with a hot gal from patagonia for few years. thats a good place to get wasted for a couple weeks.

why cheat a $5 player

The cost to a casino if they were discovered cheating would be much higher than any amount of money they could have taken from you at a $5 table.
The amount you lost over the time you played is absolutely normal and having a long run of stiff hands and few blackjacks does happen quite often.

I would be more concerned about the quality of my game and the quality of the game offered by the casino, than suspecting them of cheating.
Does not mean that cheating never happens but it is unlikely.

I agree. I have a local dive I play at... and no matter what I do I never can seem to win there. After a stretch things go through your head like this, but a cheating scandal would put a casino out of business and bury the owners in fines.

Better to remember that unless you are counting you are ALWAYS in a statistical money losing situation, and sometimes luck just sucks.

i've gone hours without getting a BJ.
i've lost $100 flat betting in less than 1 hour at a full, slow table.
i've lost 12+ hands in a row.

in no cases did i suspect cheating. in your scenario how do you propose the house was cheating? were others getting BJ, was the dealer getting BJ? were others winning? what makes you think they were cheating? because you lost? :joker: what did you expect? to win $1000?

with $150, you have 30 bets. including splits and double downs, probably about 24 straight rounds. you could EASILY lose that in 2 shoes, or 1 heads up shoe. that is the nature of the game. you could almost just as easily win $150 in the same period.

reasonable expectations could be played out at your kitchen table with a $2 deck of playing cards. kick back one night and deal out 200 rounds of SD play (deal 6 rounds, play perfect BS, play perfect dealer strategy (i.e. hit til 17), keep a log of wins, losses, and pushes. tally up the longest "streaks" of each. multiply by your bet and you can see what the $ swing might be.
