Gentlemans Blackjack

So my wife and I had our normal night out last night and decided to head to a local gentlemans club since she has never been there before. We walked in the door and before I even looked at the dancers I look to the right and my eyes are set on the 4 blackjack tables sitting in the VIP section. Immediately the first thing I thought of doing was sitting down and playing, the second was how to keep looking at the beautiful employees and keep the count. However as I got to that pit the bouncer says VIP card holders only, wouldnt give me any info on how to get into the club or rules of the game, just told me it was a VIP tournament. So question being, should I take the time to be able to play this tournament or should I just keep to the normal game?

SouthAP:

Tournament BJ is a crap shoot. Money management and bet sizing (though not in the traditional counting way) is way more important than counting usually and knowing how to position yourself and bet size according to your opponents' bets is crucial. Do a little research on tournament bj here on this site.

There might also be the possibility of taking advantage of a weak, inexperienced dealer!

Assuming this place is in Tampa, I don't think I would bother because the game is most likely illegal, and not regulated in any way. You chance playing an incomplete deck, poor rules, and who knows what else. I think it would be better just to focus on counting in regulated casinos. Just my opinion.

If this club is near the area that you're from, you might want to look into it. If it's VIP, it's probably for at least medium stakes, and you can rest assured that there are no competent blackjack players, much less tournament blackjack players around there. My only concern would be some type of "membership" fee.

Well I did a little research and ask some of my higher society associates if they ever played there. From what they tell me its a S17 DD DAS, RSA, Late surrender double on any two, pretty awesome rules but 50% pen and there is no buy in but prizes arent monetary, its like giveaways. Although it might be good to get some tournament experience. They only way in is if your well known and drop about 2 grand a visit.

I knew a guy who ran a blackjack game at his country club, gaffed shoe and all. Off the top, don't trust anything that is not legal, or in a private club.
