A word of warning to the OP. The roads in Laughlin are all under construction. Both 163 ( the road down from Vegas) and Casino Drive are all ripped up and subject to closures and detours. It can be painful.
Thank you all for this and other advice/info.

Regards, MoN

i'm pretty sure the shuffle after each round machine was six deck.
funny you should say DAS, errhh i really can't remember if those machines were DAS, errhh i think they were though........ strange if they were in fact DAS as i wasn't able to find a DAS bj table game in Laughlin...... a pit boss at the Trop told me there was only one joint in Laughlin that had DAS but i never determined which joint it was.
These machines don't mention DAS, so I always assumed they weren't and adjusted my play acordingly. Of course, after about 3,000 hands, I actually got a hand I wanted to double after splitting and to my surprise, I was allowed to.

IIRC, I have seen two types of Shufflemaster BJ machines -

Both 6D, H17, LS, DAS - one was shuffle every hand, one was shuffle after 2/3 dealt. Of course, no way of knowing when.

I posted a question about whether there was any way to gain a small extra edge by counting this (analogous to CSMs - perhaps resetting the count after every deck or so - no useful responses though...)

Updates on Laughlin?

Hi Guys,

Any updates on Laughlin conditions? I am looking to play SD/DD, curious about minimums and if there is any decent pen. Understand there is some heat there though...

Thanks!

Bolder than Brass !

LAUGHLIN remains the utter waste of time that it has been for several years now.

Conditions are miserable and heat is intense. The Status Quo.

It is hard to forget finding a Laughlin casino shift manager taking a
seat at the adjacent seat after I bought in for $200 and bet green.

I was 86'd when I audaciously found the temerity to bet 2 greenies.

It took about 10 minutes.

Note: Unless you are collecting Social Security checks you will be out-of-place.

For a recreational player, Laughlin is fine. Better than most Vegas spots.
Flash is talking out his ass once again. As far as the age of the people, it does get a large amount of snow bird retirees in the winter. This time of year, it doesn't.
Was there over Memorial Day weekend and not a wheelchair in sight. More motorcycles than walkers.
Laughlin is a laid back, down to earth town. Pompous asses will not do well there.

My experience is they do not tolerate green chip players. Especially at the Pioneer. Which is the place I am sure flash is talking about.

Pioneer has plenty of green chip players. They have a barefoot cowboy who plays multiple blacks at multiple tables, wandering around playing a hand here, and a hand there. What they won't allow is you raising your bet mid-shoe. Your first bet is your top bet, same policy Binions had for many years.

Pioneer is the only joint ever to eject me all the way to the street, not just the
door or parking lot - all the way to the curb and me stepping off onto the road. z:laugh:g

I didn't get tossed. Got shuffled on a lot. I thought going from 2 units of red to 6 units of red and getting shuffled on was just plain ridiculous.

Can you lower your bet midshoe and raise it back up to the original bet later in the shoe?

I played 2x$10-$50 with no problem. I left after I saw that the PB was watching me closely. I think I won $300 after 30 minutes? It was the shorter semi bald guy? the cowboy PB doesn't seem to mind much.

It's SD and they rarely go beyond three or four rounds. With a full table, you rarely get a third round.

Damn.
A H17, DA2,DAS, LS, SD game is just about break-even, isn't it?

The answer may be THEORETICALLY correct but who knows what kinds of tricks are played.

I know of a game which on appearance is even better but I have serious concerns after the time I've put in and the loss I've incurred.

These are ShuffleMaster games being played in a licensed casino. I'd be much more worried about being cheated by a rogue dealer than by these machines.
All said and good but the variance I suffered does not necessarily allay my concerns. Nor does it make me want to go run more money through it.
