Vegas game questions

#1
I was recently in Vegas.

I didn't find any S17 games, also every 1 deck game only payed BJ 6 to 5.

Was I missing out on good places to play?

Is the 1 deck game that pays 6 to 5, still better then the 6 deck game that pays 3 to 2?

Thanks;

6:5 BJ is a joke. Worse than any game available. There are plenty of s17 games available all over vegas in just about every casino other than HE. There are a few s17 games that are under $25 min but there are several $25 min games with s17. You shouldn't have to look hard to find them.

There are still a ton of 6-deck S17's, but most of them are $25 min. But there are several that aren't.

But a 6-deck S17 (~0.3 house edge) is arguably ten times better than the 6:5 SD (~3% house edge). The 6:5 is really horrible.

Unless something has changed there is no $10 game w/ good rules at Mandalay Bay.
I agree, I didn't see anything good <$25 last time I was there. But off hours they may have something.

Also, at the Monte Carlo, make sure your table offers surrender. For some reason some apparently don't (or my dealer was just being an ass).

I was at MB August 9th through 12th and played $10 6 deck S17 DAS BJ pay 3 to 2. I played at this table at all hours of the day and night. Granted this was early/midweek, so weekends may be different. This is a handicapped accessible table. I am not sure if the other tables down from it had the same rules as I didn't ever need to walk down any further. Had I stayed away from craps I would have managed to come away with a nice profit, but craps is too much fun to stay away. I also found a $15 table at Luxor with similar rules on the first night I was there (Sunday) at about midnight.

Las Vegas Strip BJ rules getting worse day by day...

I was on strip Friday nite and Sunday during the day. I played at MGM Grand on Friday nite and I didn't see any $10 table. There were $15 min. tables at which I played and they were all H17. The increase of # of single deck games did really shock me. I thought it might have been at MGM but when i went to NY NY and then Monte Carlo (which is my favorite casino coz it was the only place i was able to find S17 games with almost 80% pen.) I saw the same thing. The thing is that when i got to MC, it was 4.30am. They are obviously eliminating 6D games replacing them either with 8D or 1D which causes loss of interest in me as a counter. Moreover, when i got back to Excalibur where i stayed, I saw a SD game that was 6:5, H17, D10, NDAS, NS, NRA. I have never been in Reno but the rules were identical to Reno which suck! What is this single deck game mania all over Vegas? I seriously start to think that they make the game of BJ undesirable.

I have no idea about what is going on in downtown area because i never get out of strip but i guess i better do from now on.

These rules are much worse than Reno's!

Yeah, the number of single deck games are increasing but it's because they pay 6:5 blackjack. I ignore those immediately. MGM Grand does have some $10 but they gradually move to $15. That's not that bad of a game even though it's H17 because you can resplit aces and surrender. Plus the penetration is like down to a single deck in the 8 deck game and it's hand shuffled. The Monte Carlo I think has the automatic shufflers. I don't like playing those.

If I'm looking for the $10 S17 6D games at Mandalay and Monte Carlo, but I'll only be in town Friday AM-Sunday PM, will I be totally out of luck? I was planning on getting in on the early shifts so I don't have to play at a full table (and hopefully increase the likelihood of there actually being $10 tables), but are these minimums simply not happening during the weekends?

It's possible but unlikely; you may find $15 at Mandalay, but Monte Carlo has apparently dumped all of their 6D/S17 (except one).
