Conditions in European casinos?

#1
Hi,

I like Stanford Wong's CBJN, but is there someting similar for European casinos? I don't play in my own country (Germany) anymore as the rules are rather bad (S17, but no hole card, no surrender, double 9-11 only and mostly there are only 1-2 tables opened only in the evenings).

Greetings from Germany

I recommend that you read this thread about Cyprus (Turkish side). I have some detailed condition explanations:

http://www.blackjackinfo.com/bb/showthread.php?t=17474

From my own experience, many games over there are break-even from the beginning. ES10, DOA, DAS, ENHC, S17, 6D. On top of this, some include ES on Ace, and some include redouble rule, which clear out all the remaining house edge.

Also, I hear that Russia has very similar rules to Northern Cyprus.

Hi wwcd,

Turing - I expect to be in northern Germany next year (Hannover area). Can you give me casino info (if any) for that area?
Hi,

you should have a look at http://www.spielbanken-niedersachsen.de
Click to the link 'Standorte' and on the left you'll get the towns which have casinos. By the way, Hamburg is only a few miles away and there are some more casinos. But if you like playing Blackjack, I wouldn't recommend you to play in North Germany. Most casinos there are using CSMs, so counting is impossible.

Hi,

no, that's not true. In most casinos in Bavaria (southern Germany) are 6 decks dealt out of a shoe!

heat?
Hi,

the penetration is about 75% and so far I haven't felt any heat, not on my level (10€-120€) . It seems that most German casinos are not really familiar with counting or take it easy. Once when I played alone at a table the dealer seemed to get suspicious and increased speed (which even then was still ridiculous) but that's it.

As I recall, the rules are extremely poor in Germany - not so ?
Hi,

yes, you're right: s17, D9, NSR, no hole card, i.e. about 0,8% house advantage. Fortunately the Czech Republic is not far away and there the rules are much better...

Why not take a quick trip to Poland?

There are many casinos all over Poland. If you go to Warsaw, there are so many to choose from! Plus, Poles are mostly honest. I have heard no stories of cheating at casinos unlike those in Prague.

Plus, the conditions can be very favorable depending on the casino you go to. Sometimes it depends on the dealer. One of my best experiences was in Wroclaw at the *********. The dealer cut to 1 1/2 decks. They have the beatable under/over side-bet (look it up on bjinfo) plus surrender. You can double on any two cards, split up to four if not five times, the dealer stands on 17, six decks. In Warsaw similar conditions were at ************. The only negative may be that the max bet is usually $160 or less. So, you can spread your bets to increase your cash.

Most casinos have two BJ tables and oftentimes you will play a heads up game with the dealer depending on the time of day. The most activity I saw was at the Warsaw ******.

Counting cards is easy there since the casino employees are not looking for counters at all it seems. In one casino they were more interested in the motorcyle race on tv than in what was happening at the tables. In another casino the "pit boss" was actually falling asleep while the game was in play since it was around 1am at the time! So zero heat! While in Warsaw, if you think that conditions are not the best or if you think that you feel some heat, it is easy to go to one of many other casinos in the city. Good luck!

The Marriot has higher limits as I recall (and also hosted the European Poker Tour when I was there) - but I was half-shoed very quickly. At other places in Poland my experience has been that they will allow you to play for a day or so - and if you are winning or betting large, they will check the footage and when you come back you will be half-shoed.

I also personally know of 2 people who have been barred.
