Mt. Airy now has Surrender

Thanks Flash

I started looking for more info after a nightmare shoe. The count went quickly to more than TC +6 (level 1 count) and stayed there most of the shoe. I had out max bet and got nothing but stiffs against dealer T. I didnt win a hand until the last hand in the shoe. The count had moved closer to the norm by then. Flash asked me if I was using surrender properly. I was using it about as basic strategy demanded. I looked up the indices and quickly realized just how much I had needlessly given to the casino. I figure I should have surrendered a at least 50% of the hands I didnt surrender. Probably much more than 50%. What a waste. At least flash made sure I learned the lesson that I paid the price of admission for.

I would love to see some kind of punitive action taken as a whole then, if single players can't be reimbursed - perhaps a solid month of forcing them to pay 3:1 on BJs.
Punitive action! Hollywood at Charles Town has been fined for five straight years for not paying out enough on slot machines in accordance with the law. I believe the fine is $80,000. They could care less.

Your numbers are not applicable. While it's true surrender only gives a basic strategy player 0.08%, you are not a basic strategy player and the rule is worth far more in high counts. It's not worth much of anything in low counts, and if you follow the BS surrender rules you actually lose money with it in low counts, but as counters we're usually gone from the table at that point.

While it may seem you are getting a lot more good counts in 6D vs. 8D, it's not worth that much, because as good counts are more frequent in 6D they last longer in 8D. The difference is mostly psychological, and due to the more frequent shuffles in 6D you will actually be getting more hands per hour at 8D. And for a backcounter/Wong-outer the less frequent but longer good counts of 8D are advantageous as there is less jumping in and out of shoes, which is time-consuming and will also serve to limit the number of good hands you see in a real-world casino.
From experience, there is nothing better in a shoe game than a long positive count at 8-deck, but then, they are few and far between, the wong outs are long, and it even takes more time to shuffle the larger 8-deck games. If the 6 and 8 deck games were the same rulewise and pen, I'd have to go with whichever one offered surrender.
