A friend of mine had a copy of American Gangstrer 4 days after it opened so I am sure he will have this one too within 5 days . Just looks like a Hollywood rehash thopugh of a well documented story that has been told 4000 times over .:) ;)  :cool2:

the trailer looks much more exciting than the boredom of actually playing.
but then I guess it has to in order to sell the movie.
as a result of the movie, will casino execs make a better game to attract new, so-called counters, keep rules the same, or tighten up like oysters?

I think that casino execs should make a better game, but generally they should have years ago.
lets see what the gang from bj institute has to say...

hopefully the movie will have some information in it that will educate the public as to what is a real blackjack game as compared to the counterfeit "blackjack" games casino's are trying to shove down their throats.

I seriously doubt that will happen.

[after Ray spills a box of toothpicks on the floor]
Raymond: 82, 82, 82.
Charlie: 82 what?
Raymond: Toothpicks.
Charlie: There's a lot more than 82 toothpicks, Ray.
Raymond: 246 total.
Charlie: How many?
Sally Dibbs: 250.
Charlie: Pretty close.
Sally Dibbs: There's four left in the box.

Movie looks gay. I will pay 9 bucks to see it but I dont think it is close to what I was expecting. Yet on the other hand, I have higher expectations then even someone like Kevin Spacy.

Two Thumbs down. Ben M can suck a fat one.

1) This movie looks amazing.
Looks ok, if I did not have an interest in AP, I would not go see it.

2) Ben Mezrich is an amazing writer.
No, Tom Robbins is an amazing writer.

P.S 17. is the the squareroot of 290. Ihate17 should have made that post. Speaking of hate.

I think we're going to see a lot more 6:5 shoe games on account of it. Does it say in the movie that 6:5 is a ripoff? Probably not, you're not going to hear that any place but here. And people who learned counting from the movies are going to be lining up to play.

You've got to remember, the guys who became casino executives are the guys you remember from school who beer-ponged their way through semesters, bought their term papers, and got to where they are just by picking the right ass to kiss. They are far less competent at what they are doing than any one of us would be.

I hope the movie is just one and a half hours showing one guy backcounting shoes, only to finally find a good count near the end, when some ploppy swoops in and grabs the seat. Then he can look at the camera and scream "WHYYYY!!!" (Charleton Heston stylee).

One of these days, I'm going to invite a bored reporter to come out with me on a backcounting session and see what 12 hours of that is really like. Wandering around, staring at games like a <self-censored> stares at the sun, elbowing my way between civilians for a few hands and losing a few chips, cussing, going to the next store, repeat, and hopefully by the end of the day up a dozen or so black. Nothing is pleasant, nothing romantic or even romanticizable. Maybe after this reality of BJ is written up, the casinos will pity us more than fear or hate us.

The movie does have one great part about it, the smokin hot asian chick.
I'm all for hot Asian chicks, but, man, can we for once see an Asian man get the hottie, Asian or otherwise? The best players on the team that Kevin Lewis was on were Asian or half-Asian. Man, I'm thinking of switching my cell phone to Verizon just because they have a commercial with an Asian kid getting the girls.

I don't see this movie really changing anything. Everyone knows card counters exist, but everyone also thinks they're geniuses. The trailer seems to support the myth and makes it look like you have to be a genius from MIT. Perhaps a lot of people will be encouraged to give it a try, but most will lack the dedication necessary to be successful at it. Looks like a movie with an unhappy ending, which would be discouraging. Plus, who wants to get their ass kicked in a backroom by Laurence Fishburne?

I think the tournaments on television have done a lot to bring new players to the tables, and the movie will too. But most players are not winners.
