Las Vegas Advisor 2010 Coupon Book - Crap

Just got an email from the Las Vegas Advisor website, whose coupon book I have bought the last few years. For 2010 they have ZERO, count 'em ZERO blackjack matchplays. However, they have a nifty $7.77 per night deal at the Las Vegas Homeless Shelter, er, I mean the "Gold Spike."

Cross another one off the list. I don't go to Las Vegas to take a painting class. I go to gamble. This book is pretty much worthless for that this year. Interesting, because the American Casino Guide's 2010 book is much better on the table play front than it has been the last couple of years.

Obviously, you have not been to the Spike lately. I stayed there last trip for a nite and have four nites booked in Feb. That $7.77 deal is also in the ACG.

Awesome post

This is one of the most enjoyable post on couponomy that I have ever read.In fact this post is so popular that it is being forwarded a lot.I had read it before but did not know that it was Zengrifter's post.

Which year was this and how did the decline in couponomy start?

Can someone verify this? It seems strange that the LVA would all of a sudden remove all of their MP coupons, as the ACG still has many.

The list posted by the LVA does not contain any MPs. Were they accidently omitted from the list, or were they excluded from the book is being debated as we speak. It is pretty inexpicable.

There are definitely none. I can confirm that explicitly.

Anthony Curtis, the owner of LVA, has posted up inside his pay website some pretty insulting comments about his customers who use matchplays, suggesting they are fraudsters and scammers and hit and run artists. Which is a rich irony because, as one can see in the post linked above, AC himself pioneered the Advantage Player aspect of coupon matchplays. I have been previously told he is an ass. Yesterday I saw it with my own two eyes. He rants about his "better" customers being those lobotomized people who sit in front of slot machines. It sounds like Gary Loveman put a mind-control ray on him or something.

Very Weird

After seeing the last couple posts, I checked out what LVA had to say. I, too, am blown away by Anthony's change of tone with regard to coupons, especially MPs. "Couponomy" was certainly his thing...and he was a huge honk for it when he made appearances on those Travel Channel Vegas shows in the early 2000s.

This makes the ACG the cream of the crop then.

good luck :joker:

I bet he'll change his tune after he suddenly doesn't sell as many books........
Jerkoff deleted the thread that featured his asshole comments, started a new one with some initially soothing comments trying to make amends but really can't help himself and still comes across like what he really is.

He'll have to survive without my $50 this year.

I posted a link to his story of spending a summer exploiting multiple matchplay coupons at the Lucky Lady. He deleted it.
I then posted a rather lengthy comparison between the value of the book of two years ago and the current one. His response- He banned me from posting on his site.
Screw him and his horse. I have many better ways of spending the $87 I had budgeted for him.

A Little OT but...

I can't get you matchplay, but entertainment 2010 coupon book can save you some serious money. And then there are the movie discounts, pizza coupons, and BOGO's for your area. If you're in LV, you may have another chance.

Example: I priced a trip to Hawaii, sorry, it's who I am, and at the time was able to save $500.00 on flight and car. No hotel for me. I camp. By the lake too. I'll bet you can see some offering at the entertainment book website. 30 bucks and shipping...

I generally buy two Entertainment guides-one for NYC and one for Long Island. I also bought a Vegas book last year and was pretty disappointed in it. I'll stick to the ACGs and my other sources for MPs. They are not that hard to get.
I'll never give a dime to Curtis or his publications.

Category-------------------------------2007---2008---2009---2010

2-for-1 Buffets -------------------------25------23-------24------26

50% off for One Buffet-----------------0------17--------17-------7

Gambling MP/FP $ (Vegas Area)--------$240---$310----$340----$90

Point Multiplier Coupons---------------11------14-------- 0--------0

Here's an analysis, don't know if this is the one Shadroch was mentioning, that demonstrates pretty well how this book is no longer what it once was.

Seems to be a fair amount of that going around.

Granted, I exploited the POVs - the year was 2002 - but it was just too easy to pass up. Where Curtis really got abused was not legit POV buyers like moi, but actually counterfeiting the POV coups, not even buying the POVs for $35.

Curtis himself came to a Barfy Rat Pack Dinner and told us extra power coupon strategies - like using the freeAce on a fortune-wheel BJ table. zg

You are not the only one he has banned from his site - I have heard of several people say the same thing. You should demand a refund then. You paid for a service (access to and use of the message boards) which you are not receiving.

Funny thing is - the usual way people get banned from a site is by submitting insulting or profane comments. In this case, the only asshole posting things has been Anthony Curtis himself. He seems like quite a reprehensible piece of work.

My membership was set to expire the end of Feb. I asked for a refund and was told that the membership price pays for the coupon book that I recieved last year., which is a direct contradiction of his board statement that the couponbook is an extra.
I've requested a refund from my credit card company.
