help! I want to beat the crown!

Guys,

I wonder whether you can help. I'm new to this game, but training for a hit on crown. Why crown? Because it looks like the rest of the Aussie casinos (CSM machines and all) offer appalling games, whereas crown does at least have shoe games in some of the rooms that would appear - on the surface - to be beatable.

So what's going wrong? I run a simulator with the crown rules (H17, double any 2, no surrender, 8 decks, 70-80% penetration)... and it keeps showing a loss. I use the hi-lo count and a spread of 1-16 units as follows: TC0=1, TC1=2, TC2=4, TC3=8, TC4+=16.

Hmmm? I'm confused. Does it mean I can't ever get the edge over Crown? Can anyone help me take a little back from the Packers? Please? :)

Thanks,
S

Something wrong with how you have set up your sim. There're plenty of similar sims that don't show a loss from the details you're put out.

... that's a relief!
Your bet spread is very aggressive. You'd be detected pretty quickly. Especially at Crown.

May I suggest you restrict yourself to 1 to 4 spreading?

Or may I suggest you bet 2 units with a neutral TC, 1 unit with a negative TC and 4 units with a positive TC?

A) Wonging in at +2 with a 1-16 bet, maxed out at +5/+6, Wonging out at -2, is highly profitable.

B) Pontoon at Crown is not beatable given CSM's.

Interesting...

Koz, my inclination is to agree with you. From the sims I'm running it looks like the only way to beat crown is to have an aggressive bet spread. 1-4 as suggested by Studio just doesn't work. 1-16 works; so the problem is not getting detected and to wong in and out.

Can I ask you, then, aren't you even more detectable when wonging in such a fashion? Do you have any tips on how to stay "under the radar" (it sounds like you've used that strategy before). If you think that the information is too sensitive for this forum, you can PM me :)

Another question for you Koz... how would you spread 1-16 when wonging in at +2 and maxing out at +5/6? What are the exact unit numbers per count?

Studio, your suggestion to "bet 2 units with a neutral TC, 1 unit with a negative TC and 4 units with a positive TC", sounds good in principle, but my sims on those numbers record a loss every time. Sorry!

Once again - thanks to everyone here for contributing. Your advice is - as ever - much appreciated.

Hey there,

Yes I have employed the Wonging method at Crown, and have been reasonably successful. And thats only with a 1-8 spread most times. I have encountered VERY little heat, primarily because I am part of a team, and the spread is small fish compared to the amounts the ploppies bet at times. I once took a tidy $600 profit in half a shoe, with a drunk Asian winning $10k on the table next to me at the time...where do you think the pit was standing? Not at my table thats for sure. As for the spread, you could try 1,4,8,16 units at +2,+3,+4,+5. Id be more than happy to discuss things further, but I cant PM you for some reason...

Serious,

Understand. Koz says he made a profit with only an 8 to 1 bet spread. If that's the case I'd say keep your spread as low as possible. If 1 to 8 works then stick with that.

Best of luck. Given this is Crown we're talking about, you'll need it.
