Thunder Valley Casino
I really dislike continuous auto shufflers. What a lot of non-counters fail to realize is that these machines cost them a lot more money too. Since the dealer never has to stop to shuffle, the house gets in many many more hands per hour. So though these machines do hurt counters, the real money is not made in this way. It's made by hitting everyone on the floor with the extra hands per hour.
Near Sacramento, at Thunder Valley Casino (operated by Station Casinos out of Las Vegas) every one of their 70 or so blackjack tables has a continuous auto shuffler. What disheartens me is that with the lowest limits on most nights being in the $15 range, it can still be hard to find a seat at these bad games. At least they let you re-split aces, I guess.
On top of the shuffle machines, you should see how fast these dealers fly too. They beat the hell out of any dealers around in speed, even compared to other places I have seen with these same machines.
All of these are reasons why I hit Cache Creek Casino instead, or go to Reno. What worries me is that although I don't think these machines will ever have a monopoly on games, more casinos will continue to look to them for the increased revenue due to cutting out shuffling. If someone tells management that their tables will still be nearly 100% full (as in the case of Thunder Valley), and you can have 15-20% more hands per hour, your revenue from these games in the long run would increase by around 15-20%. It's hard to turn down if you are management. Good luck on trying to get people to stop playing these games. 6:5 single deck is a worse game, and that's hard enough to keep them from playing...
