Best way to play "We will cover up to $100 in slot losses"?

There's currently a promotion in AC if you sign up for a TrumpOne card, they will reimburse you (voucher for cash, redeemable in a Trump casino w/in 60 days after initial trip) for up to $100 in slot losses if you play at least 30 minutes within 24 hours of getting the card.

Any suggestions on how best to maximize this promo?

1) make sure you play at least 30 minutes.
2) I would play the least volitile game I could find(VP).for thirty minutes, then take a shot at a game like three reel wheel of Fortune. As soon as I'd lost my $100 and had 30 minutes in,get your bonus.

that is an extremely good deal.. play FULL PAY jacks or better video poker (always bet 5 coins per hand), as it is the least volatile and easiest to play (people seem to think all video poker is alike; when somebody says "play video poker" that means nothing, as double double bonus is way different than jacks or better) and get a strategy sheet to play (should be at least 20 "hand types" long, or its too basic).. whenever you get any kind of coupon for slots, ALWAYS play video poker, but make sure you arent playing like 6/5 jacks (~94% payback) or other such horrible paytables, make sure its 9/6 jacks (99.54%), which you may have to go to $1 ($5/hand since ur betting max, which is a must if you want the huge royal flush bonus) denomination, because these days pay tables are **** until you get to the $1 level in most areas.. (im setting a record for most parenthesis in a post)

You only want to play the less volitile game long enough to insure you will get your bonus. once that is insured, you want to play a very volitile game-slots,not VP.With $100 in free play ,you'll get perhaps 50-70 shots at hitting a Wheel of Fortune spin, for free.

that is false, extremely false.. a 10% house edge (slots) is a 10% house edge! it doesnt matter if the money is free! if you want to play something volatile, play double double bonus or deuces wild or something, but make sure you know how to play it! you NEVER play slots, i dont know what made you say that shadroch, and if your thinking "well its free money, so take a shot at like $1000s", that is ploppy thinking, and no different than betting systems and other ploppy logic.. also, where did you get the idea that playing something volatile = more money? it doesnt, it just means more jumping around, but what i was saying is, jacks or better is the easiest to play, it has low variance (you know more what to expect).. the problem is some vp games/machines these days have horrible paytables, and if you dont know what to look for, you could be playing like a -6% game, in which case you might be better off at a $5 slot machine, but thats only if you are extremely lazy and dont want to do 1 hour of reading on video poker and print out a strategy sheet

Lets see. I can take advice from Bob Dancer,Anthony Curtis and Jean Harris
or you. HMmmmmmmmmm......

As I said,I depends what you want to do with your free play. The very last thing I want to do when you have $100 in losses covered is play some game for an hour and make a few bucks.I want to swing for the fences, knowing I'm playing with house money.Someone else might want to make the play last as long as possible, gathering up as many comps as they can get before they lose their $100.Were this a renewable $100 cover,it would be different, but its a one-shot,so I go for the fences.
BTW- I didn't make Diamond Level at Harrahs playing BJ.

I played a 25 cent slot for the 30 minutes, then went over to a dollar machine and max bet it. After about 10 pulls, I hit a small jackpot and netted about $100. This was before I posted the question.

Next week, we're going back and my wife will sign up and do it. I agree with Shadroch. To me, it makes more sense to go for a jackpot. For short-term play, the house advantage isn't relevant. You're counting on the variance and hoping it's positive.

At Trump, there's no sense in trying to play for comps, as their comp rate truly is pitiful. After 90 minutes of BJ with an average bet of ~$75 and about 40 minutes of slots, I comped $12.

More volatility is definitely better here. Shadroch is right. I'd actually play the volatile play first. If you lose the $100, then go play nickel VP for 30 minutes to complete the requirement.

On the other hand, if you get lucky at whatever volatile game you choose, set a high target where you'll stop. I'd probably set a "stop-win" at $500 or more for this promo. In other words, if I won $500 before I lost $100, I'd just keep the profit and blow off the promo. Anything short of $500 profit, I'd keep playing.

My preference would be to use a high variance VP game for this, probably at the $5 level. It'll be pretty easy to lose $100 there!
