The single dumbest play I have ever seen

I recently saw someone surrender a 5 against a dealer 10. All the ploppies were yelling at him, and the guy insisted the dealer had a 20. (He didn't)

Crazy Double!

This guy I play with makes stupid plays all the time. Even the dealers complain about him.

Last time we played he doubled a hard 13 against a dealer 6. The table was raising &^%$ (including me). The dealer flipped over the hole 10 for a 16 and hit it with a 4 for 20. ( my friend got the bust card of course! ;-) Oh, I forgot the best part where my friend got the 8 on his hard 13 double. Needless to say the pit critters brought their tents.

I've been an AP for 22 years and while the actions of other players don't normally affect me, I have to share the dumbest play I've ever seen. I was in Vegas pouncing on the Flamingo's fantastic single deck games and there was this crazy 20-something guy sitting at third base. I stood on 20 and was prepared to win the hand when this guy, I don't know whether he was drunk, high, or had just been administered a full frontal lobotomy... but this joker decides to hit on 18. I repeat, HE HIT ON 18. What did he think he was trying to accomplish? He wound up getting a face card and had to stand, and this is the worst part... the dealer flipped up a 7 in the hole under her 9 then caught a 5 to make a miracle 21! Not only did his idiotic play cause everyone at the table to lose, it sent the FoC index which had previously been terrific plummeting into the ground. I badly wanted to curse him out but I knew that I would accidentally mention the index which would've gotten me 86'ed. To bring the index back up to respectability, I stood on 7 against the dealer's 5 a couple of hands later to avoid taking her bust card, which naturally worked. Still, I was so flummoxed by this idiot's play that I was distracted for the rest of the night and wound up dropping $2700. Oh well, when you're an AP you learn to live with those kind of fluctuations.
Hitting soft 18 against dealer's 9 IS the correct play. I've seen someone hit on a hard 18...go figure...she was losing.

Doubling his blackjack

For those of you who never or seldom have played on high limit tables, this post will help you understand that the amount of money that you have has no direction correlation with the amount of inteligence you may have.

I get a blackjack and so does another player at the table who happens to have a $1,000 bet. Instead of being happy with a $1,500 win he decides to double his natural putting at risk now $2,000 where his best outcome would be to win $500 more than if he had not doubled. Basically risking $2,000 to make $500 compared to no longer having any risk (he did have a blackjack) with a $1,500 win. The dealer had a 4. Anyway, our genius gets a 8 for a 19 and the dealer turns a 7 for 11 and you can guess the rest. Guy storms off of the table yelling (yes yelling) that the casino is crooked and no one ever wins.

Perhaps I am wrong here or just warped, but I found the whole thing extremely funny. Stupidity rewarded properly. By the way, I have seen a blackjack doubled a couple of other times in my life and the doubler has yet to win. As for odds? Even though you might still have an edge on the double when you factor in your throwing away a 150% payout, it might be the worst bet in the casino.

Bad Pit Boss

OK...these are great stories. The worst player I saw had $25K in pink chips in front of him, and was playing solo on a $100 table with a very young Oriental girl dealing. This pit boss was watching every move. The guy was playing 3 hands of $600 each. Double deck...dealt face down. I don't know what he had on each hand, but he tucked all 3. Dealer had a 2 showing, turned over an A, drew, 2, 2 (soft 17...had to hit), 5, said, "21!" And took the guy's $1800. I said outloud behind the stranger to the dealer, "Hey, you only have 12!" The pit yelled at me to get lost...it was none of my business. The player had to have heard me, but let them take his money! All this in a big casino in Vegas! :flame:

Hey Picasso, I'm surprised you are even interested in cards, seeing as you could easily make $10M a painting. :cat:

I saw a guy DOUBLE a 16 v a 3. needless to say he busted but saved the dealer from making a hand. He was doubling 12s 13s and 14s all day and actually making good hands off of them all while trying to make the dealer bust. Sadly he actually succeeded at this and saved the table numerous times.

This one tops my list

Player at 1st base had a BJ. Dealer pays him then flips her card and quickly scoops up everyone's cards. I said, "wait, you didn't let us make a play yet." She calls the pit over and with the dealer showing a 7/9, he instructed each player to play their hand. Guy at second base had a 7/4. He motioned for a card WITHOUT doubling down.

Did anyone jump in and offer to double?

Dealer accidentally shows to everyone the next card coming up, a 10

Player has 14 and obviously says, Stand!

Old lady with big-eyed glasses signals with the finger the very traditional

'hit-me';

she has 12

the crowd says: 'No, no you will bust'

She signals with the finger, again...
