Considering a trip soon for a couple of reasons. 1 - Play Blackjack 2 - Scenery 3- Light Hiking. I may also visit Elko.

Has anyone been during May and can advise on the conditions for hiking etc.

I am fairly up to speed on casino conditions from CBJN, but if anyone wants to share some really current info, that would be cool.

Not concerned with heat as my play level should not bother anyone unless they flinch at a max of $80-100 range.

Thanks in advance.

Wendover

I'm kind of interested in Wendover also. They've got a flight going out of Little Rock for three nights for $99 per person round trip. Pretty good deal it seems like to me. I've heard its mostly all single deck. Not sure about number rounds.

Wendover

Yes, most of the games are SD, DOA, RSA. There shouldn't be too much heat under $100 max. except maybe from the Russians at the Nugget. The rest of the houses are run by the Peppermill folks. Good flights to Wendover? You must be flying into SLC and then driving the 110 miles. Nice little desert town, but the food sucks everywhere. :vomit:

I was just there. I played single deck at every casino and it sucked, big time. Tables are full and you only get 2 rounds most of the time. They no longer have double deck at Red Garter.

There is a pretty good 6 deck game at Peppermill. It's H17 and you can't double after splitting, but the pen is unbelievable. It varies somewhat by dealer, but most dealers cut off so few cards I was surprised they never ran out. There is only 1 such table available. I'm pretty sure they knew I was counting but they didn't seem to care.

I liked it a few years back but skip the Nugget. I found a little heat at the Peppermill from a heavy bald pit boss but otherwise it was fairly cool a couple years ago.

The Nugget was the only place I did get heat out there. Overall it was kind of like Elysium for card counters, haven't been there in a few years though.

Back from my trip

Wendover.....was good. Very good. I liked the games and the people. They are all hard working folks that are nice and happy to make a living.

Nugget.....just for the good ole boys that want to play low stakes, drink and have fun. The eye candy dancers on Sat night were kind of hot to watch. They have the dealers shuffle up on you when you increase your bet more than double.....I went 1 to 4 and the dealer shuffled. I looked at him and said....what's up?? He said...you bump your bet up like that, I gotta shuffle....those are the rules. And I was playing red!! Unit size of 10-15.

The other stores (except Red Garter)....no issues. Don't be a pig...just play, bump up when the count dictates...you'll be fine. Did so-so for the first night...second night made my come back and a few bucks ahead.

Red garter....for low stakes....no issues. But......watch how you spread. They took a keen interest in me and my play for a little bit.....then kinda walked off when I started talking about the side bet and stuck 2 bucks on it. Again, low stakes.

Did go to Jackpot.....sorry I wasted my gas. Cactus Pete's had **** for a game. One table open.....double deck, cut off one deck, table was crowded. Horseshu did not open table games till 6pm....I didn't wait. Bartons 93....I was in a great position to beat the pants off them.....then ploppis came. they had 2-tables open, one was empty. I grabbed it....got dealt two hands..won both, the count went up a bit....another guy sat down...no problems, we get another round....counts up even more....he runs to the bathroom...I set out to 2 hands, and then a lady comes running over and plops 25 bucks down on a spot....I ask her if she would mind waiting until the shuffle....the dealer says.....no problem, just jump in!! She yells to her 3-other ploppie friends....and you guessed it...they come over and sit down, and the dealer just shuffeled up. I was pretty pissed....a great count all to myself, then ruined.

Closing.....Wendover is worth the trip.....forget Jackpot. Elko was so-so. The only game and place to play worth any time at all would be Gold Dust West. They take an interst in you and your game if your winning....but give you amble hints when it's time to go.

I was in Wendover on Friday, my first ever trip to UT and that area of NV. Games are not favorable. I am used to playing in Louisiana with good rules such as S17 and DAS. They also have the "royal match" side bet and I noticed players betting on it every hand. (First two cards suited pays 3 to 1.)
I only found one shoe game at Montego Bay. Rest of the games were single deck.

The incidence of single deck games with S17 or DAS is very, very low, next to zero have both.

The rules can appear much crummier to make a single deck game viable than is the case with a multiple deck game.
