Match the dealer

Anyone ever run into a sidebet called "match the dealer." You only have to match one of your two cards to the dealer's upcard. I believe suited pays more. I wonder if there is a best time to make this play, or if one time's as bad as another?

If you could use sequencing to predict when your cards would match it becomes beatable, very difficult. Not countable with any advantage, Lucky Ladies is the more beatable sucker bet or O/U 13 if you find it.

Best time for "Match the Dealer" bet = Never

I did calculations on this and other side bets awhile back, and although I don't remember the house edge on this specific bet, most side bets carry a 3-7% house edge. I also recall that the true count (using HiLo) has to be around >+12 or <-12 before the player has an advantage with the "Match the Dealer" bet. Counts like this are extremely rare, and practically speaking, you'd never want to play this side bet.

In addition to Lucky Ladies and O/U 13, I'm only aware of two other side bets which might be beatable:
1) Royal Match - Pays when the player's two cards are suited. Premium payout comes with a KQ suited. This might be beatable when the remaining deck has a very uneven distribution of each of the four suits.

2) Big Slick - I think there is a payout if your first two cards make a 2-card straight, or if your first two cards are a pair. The premium payout for this game is AK suited (or, "big slick"). I think the player has an advantage in this game if there is a significantly higher than normal distribution of aces and kings in the remaining pack. The game may be beatable if you side count aces and kings.

match the dealer exists in AC, at least in certain casinos these days. saw this a few weeks ago, so i too am curious if anyone has run any sims on this and whether its beatable by the count. if no one has done any work on it, maybe i will take a crack at it this week if i have some free time. but if someone has done work on it, or has seen results of sims on other boards, please post a link/results!

thanks,

Sidebets

The biltmore had lucky ladies on there double deck games. However they did not allow you to place a bet on lucky ladies after the second deal. Making the bet 100% unbeatable. However at that time they had a decent blackjack game that I loved to play. Now they just have bad blackjack games that I'm not that interested in playing or I play them very sparringly.

Not true. It is still possible to beat the LL bet off the top. This is a perfect example of ignorant casino management. Their attempt to protect the game was useless and they end up losing lots of potential profit from the ordinary players. Obviously the regular players are the vast majority so the end result is a huge loss with virtually no benefit.

In any other business something like this would be cause for termination or at least demotion of the person responsible. In this case the person probably got a nice pat on the back and the executives can feel comfortable again. I can’t believe that nobody anywhere in the chain of command thought that this would be a terrible idea.

"match play" in spanish 21. the actual odds that youll get a unsuited match is 5.43-1, and around 12-1 for the suited match.
I assume you are talking about 6 decks given the payoffs you state.

Other than that, I'd say your odds don't make alot of sense to me.

Maybe 1 in 8 or so for at least one unsuited match and 1 in 25 or 30 for a suited match.

I'm counting stuff like 1 suited and one unsuited toward both. Or both cards suited or unsuited towards either. Etc.

Maybe you're doing it a different way.

is it really possible for casinos to be this stupid with almost everything they do? ive said this before, but i think APs could run a casino much much better, and increase profit and popularity, while completely shutting down card counters and such.. it just amazes me that none of management has any idea whats going on.. the pit bosses arent management really, but they walk around like they are in the cia stopping card counters, when they dont even know how much card counters actually take off the bottom line of the casino, which is way below 1%.. i bet any one of us (well, hold a few people haha) could make the casino more money just with a few suggestions on promotions, comps, and how to stop counters all while still keeping the regulars happy.. i just dont get it, isnt there somebody in management that gets it? i keep thinking there must be a reason casinos dont do this or that, and that i am just not seeing it, and that they really do know what they are doing

How do you beat the LL bet off the top of a DD game? Are you saying some incorrect pay table or something?

I'm sure I'm missing something.
