Where do you keep your bankroll?

I'm just wondering how everyone manages the logistics of managing and deploying their wad. Especially for those who are dealing with large bankrolls.

I have my micro-bankroll ($1500 at the moment) completely segregated from my bank accounts that I use for regular spending. I felt this was very important, so I don't accidentally gamble my grocery money (or buy groceries with my gambling money!). I have it an e-savings account with Citibank. This has a few advantages:
1) There are branches on the way to and fro the casinos local to me
2) There are no transaction limitations on cash transactions
3) It earns 5% interest. And at my bet spread, that may be more than I earn by counting :)

So, usually, if I'm heading out on a weekend, I'll drop by a branch in the morning make a withdrawal, and then whenever I'm done for the period, I'll just stop by the branch and make an after-hours deposit at the ATM.

The only real logistical hassle I have is if the branch is closed, and I make a withdrawal from an ATM. Walking into a casino with even a few hundred dollars in twenties can be a pain.

If I do find myself at a casino unprepared, my "real" checking account does reimburse me for ATM fees, so I can eat the $3 fee from a casino cash machine no problem. However, in order to keep the accounting straight, I need to transfer money bank and forth to keep things kosher.

Course, I have a ton of bank accounts anyway, that I don't really have a problem managing.

For other folks, I'm just wondering:

1) Do you ever just stuff the money in a mattress?
2) How do you manage the logistics of large amounts of cash?
3) Do you ever set up casino credit lines?
4) For really large bankrolls, do you invest any of it, and if so, what proportion, and in what?

1) No. The bank is the best place to be if it is not in my pocket. I won't spend it that way.

2) I know how much I start with. I know how much I end with. I track ALL transaction in QUICKEN.

3) I do not gamble on credit lines. I gamble with money I already have in the bank. Nothing would feel worse than to have a big loss... at 17% interest

4) Don't have a big enough bankroll to answer this question, but I normally put my winnings into my savings acct.

In AC,I use their credit lines, which are really nothing more than post-dating a check. If you don't pay your marker in 7 days, they debit your checking account. Its free and very easy to set up.
In Vegas,I usually cash a check at the hotel I'm staying at.Again, free and fairly pain-free.I bring about $500 in cash with me,and then use checks as needed.
While I have begun keeping very strict records,I don't have a designated BR,per say.

It's my Bank of America savings account. BOA is in most casino venues in the US so I can always get money if the banks are open. At my green chip level $500 is an unacceptable playing stake so I just have to plan ahead. But it is very comforting to drop my cash in an ATM or night depository at the end of the trip, what a great feeling.

When I'm in venue, I keep my cash in a money pouch that is worn over my pelvis. Over $10K leaves no noticeable outline, and if a robber were to go down there he would have to put his head in a position where I could use it as a punching bag. Only thing about that kind of a pouch is you must never go down your pants at the table, for if they think you have a device down there, you are getting strip searched.

Two trip BRs in my stash, most of the leftover BR in a bank account and somehow a good portion gets in my wife's hands. Have to toke the wife frequently and graciously to keep the "heat" off. Actually she gets 5% of my weekly winnings every Sunday. Haven't had a losing week yet so I'm not sure if she will give me 5% of my losses... I doubt it.:cow:

There's a lot of jokes that can be made here, but I'm going to go with "over $10k isn't any more noticeable! Booyah!".

Actually, where does someone go about buying a groin money pouch, anyway?

Wal-Mart, in the camping/outdoors section. It was around 10 bucks.

Wait, let me rephrase that.... it cost about 10 dollars!

I keep my bankroll at home in a safe. When I transport it I use a silk money belt sold on bj21.com. I don't even need to take it off when I am sitting on the plane.. At the casino, I will keep my bankroll in the safe there and only take as much as I will buy in for.

regards,

i have part of my bankroll invested... just a money market. i keep enough cash in my home for the trips i make. i hide the roll in my home. too my way of thinking if your good at the art of hiding things you have the most secure way of safe keeping your loot.
some times i travel with around four sessions worth of bankroll in my possesion. again i hide it in my vehicle. i'm pretty crafty about it. i only carry what i consider a sessions worth of roll with me when i enter a casino. i just carry it in my 'casino' wallet which i usually have in my front pocket.

best regards,
mr fr0g :D

All my gambling money is in cash. I carry my trip BR in my pockets, and the rest of my money is in my safe at home.

Most of the time I use markers and send check when I get home. Rate hole chips during sessions. Just continue to write markers. I'll have another person cash my chips in for me prior to leaving casino. If no line of credit I just keep it in my front pocket, but still rat hole. I think I score better comps using this method.

I'm resurrecting this fairly old topic:

When carrying fairly signifcant amounts of cash into the casino (few thousand), what about literally using a roll of cash wrapped up in a money clip (or even a rubber band), and rollin' like a drug dealer or pimp?

Too flashy? Too retarded?

i like the rubber band idea. but what i do is i have a very thin wallet that i use soley for my bankroll and player cards. when i'm not in the casino i haul around my other wallet.

Wear a t-shirt with a chest pocket. Wear it inside out so the pocket is next to your skin. Wear a regular shirt over it. Your BR is invisable and pick pocket proof. Were you to get rolled or mugged, the chances are they would miss it.

I fold hundreds in half, in packs of 10. That way I can easily pull 1K out of my pocket without flashing any large bankroll. I split them between several pockets to minimize bulk

The most I've carried is $800 (which became just over a grand, woo hoo). I have a nice, heavy winter jacket with a zip-up inner pocket. I put everything in there, and zipped it up nice and firm.

If I was to carry any significant amount, I'd:

a) Split it up amongst the, like, seventy six pockets on my coat (it's crazy, and I'm only slightly exaggerating)
b) Get someone else to bring the car around front while I wait at the bar. ;)

That's a pretty good idea. I think a dealer noticed when I accidentally flashed an overly-thick wallet when buying in for another couple hundred bucks. It was probably one of the contributing factors that led to me getting shuffled up on.

Don't forget that flashing money any time, any place, and even having a large stack of chips in front of you at the table makes you a target for violent crime outside the casino. Just like anywhere else. God protect me on the night I have to decide between giving up my bankroll and seeing how fast my hands still are.

I think I read if they catch you with $10K cash at an airport, you could have alot of explaining to do and they might even confiscate it. Some people with that much cash carry letters from their lawyer.

And I'd worry about 3 guys jumping out of nowhere at you, knocking you out and stripping you in 30 seconds.

I can carry 50 100's in a neat little roll wraped in a rubber band in my front pocket with no problem, it never leaves my pocket unless I am in my room, or in the mens room. My session bankroll is in my wallet. nobody sees my bankroll, excelpt my wife. I keep it in a safe at home.
