I've just found out today that in the film they DO show card counting as High Cards +1, Low Cards -1 and to RAISE your bet when the count is HIGH. Outrageous, but also very good for the casinos !!

I think people need to realise this is not an educational film but a hollywood film designed to entertain the masses. Why should they get into the details of card counting? That is boring, if I'm the average Joe going to see this movie I want to see action and I'm sure that's what you will get. The movie will probably also be quite different from the book as well. So if you are an AP looking for accuracy from this movie you will be disappointed.

If that's the case, I'll boycott the movie. No way am I going to support a product designed to deceive the public to enrich the casinos.

But why? Enriching casinos is good for us. zg

but not so good if that enrichment is the result of decieving the public in such a way that the public would take action in good faith based on that decietful information and suffer loss as a result. which is the premiss of the argument. thing is it seems the information is probably just in error and not deliberate deciet. but who knows lol.

I ddon't think anyone's claiming this movie is a non-fiction documentary. It's entertainment with the usual movie sex and violence (at least the promo hints along those lines.) Take it for what it's worth - a Hollywood movie.

Anyone who attempts card counting with significant $ without doing their homework deserves to lose.

I agree. If people are dumb enough to even think they know what they are doing by simply watching this movie, than they really do deserve to lose. I can see it now...A bunch of dummies and their friends trying to make a killing in one night.

It was on purpose, and no different than the billboard that says "Everyone wins at Sam's Town." zg

I very much admire your and Automatic's scruples (such are rare, to be sure), but at the same time, ollywood routinely dramatizes, exaggerates, and just plain errs. Nowanyone so impulsive as to rush headlong into a casino and attempt card-counting on the basis of a single film almost DESERVES to lose. It is well known that, in films purporting to be based on fact, Hollywood routinely dramatizes, exaggerates, reinterprets, and just plain errs. Now, if it were on the basis of a single (reputable) BOOK purporting to contain totally factual, perfectly valid info, that would be a different story.

I'm just trying to imagine sitting at a table where I'm betting the opposite of every other player at the table.

It might be hilarious.

I'm kinda stoked about seeing the movie. This will solidify the reason Im doing what I am. Rachel, a long time friend, has always said she does not believe what I have been up to.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the movie. I don't believe they will show high cards as + and low cards as - but I guess we'll see.
Also, it's hard to believe people would watch the movie and attempt to beat the casino without the benefit of reading AT LEAST one good informative blackjack book!
