15 / 16 .... v Ace

#1
I know these are surrenders .. especially in high counts ...

I have been doing that ...

But I have also been taking insurance .. because the count warrants it ...

So if I lose the insurance ....

Then surrender the 15 or 16 or 14 if the count is high enough ...

I have already given up 2/3 of my TOTAL wager ....

My question is is it worthwhile to stay and take a hit instead of surrendering at this point ...??

I guess I am thinking I am risking less money (since 2/3's will be gone anyway ...) ...

And wondered if anyone else had thought about this or simmed it ??

I am not saying its a good move ... just curious ...

Once again these are all at high counts where insurance is taken.

Thanks

Insurance is independent of what you do for the hand. Insurance is a side bet saying that you bet that there is a 10 under his hole card.

If you start hitting hands that you should surrender you are fixing to lose more than 2/3 of of overall bet.

Think of insurance as a side bet, not part of your normal bet.

Pit critters might find insuring then surrender to be a bit odd. Just saying that is one potential drawback.

But if the count warrants insuring then surrender by all means do it. You're at least giving yourself a shot to get the value of your original bet back in an ugly situation like that.
