"Can you put a bet in for me?"

#1
Recently I've been having encounters with friendly, reasonably attractive women at the table who ask me to "put a bet in for them." Being I am a tool-using monkey there are probably ways I can exploit these people, if I know what they are looking for ahead of time.

The first approximation is the obvious- they are looking for the expected return of the bet and that's it. If so, I can probably reverse the con and profit at their expense. But would I be getting myself into anything deeper than just the value of the bet by interacting with these women? And are they solo practitioners, or are they part of a syndicate, or working with pimps/drug dealers/casino personnel? Any shared experiences would be appreciated.

I'm a bit paranoid about people in general so interaction is always met with caution. They may have a read on you but still need to find out how you extract winnings. I have been fooled once or twice about instances that involved other players. I had one guy actually say he was counting cards but did a poor job to say the least. It could have been a ploy to gain my confidence for what I don't know or care. Always keep your gaurd up lest that grandma sitting next to you is the pit's mother.

Lol... Kind of weird how it's the kinda attractive looking women approaching you instead of not good looking women or guys approaching you.. Either they could be using them to further prove something or you might just be paranoid... But attractive women does make it harder to say "no" sometimes.:p

My first reaction is that it's a pick up line, probably from call girls. Do you have more money on the table than the average Joe?

My second reaction is, can you recommend an after shave for me? ;)

I am of the opinion that this will not occur if you have a small stack of green on the felt, while others are multi-stacked or have blacks or better showing.

That has been my experience. That is what I have to go by.

The exception is old chinese ladies who imagine that I am lucky because I won 2 or more hands in succession with several green chips out.

Yes. Also my act is drunk, desperate and a bit unstable, so that is going to attract people looking for someone to victimize too. If they only knew!

These don't appear to be outright whores, just hustlers, and you never know how organized they might be or who is organizing them so I don't want to get them too riled up. But it seems to be a recent phenomenon, at least for me.

Just be very wary of all this, If you are asked to place a bet by a player and it wins a large amount of money, you are liable for the tax.
You are taxed on winnings don't forget.
Vice Versa, i would not do it (out of experience)

BJQueen,

What tax are you referring to ?
Probably the reference is to side bets. On lucky ladies, with two Qh and dealer BJ, you win 1000 times your bet, which is taxed. There's no way in hell you can get taxed on regular blackjack game though, even if you are allowed to split unlimited times.

Technically you could keep all of the winnings for yourself, too. But that could be dangerous!

Why don't you read the interview provided here on Zengrifter there is a part about betting part of other peoples bet e.g. double down, if you haven't already read it. me being curious i would do it atleast once or twice and see if they start Provoking you more often and with determination or if it was just a bit of fun.

The following scenario is probable.

The woman asking to have a bet "put in for her" expects to turn on her heels and split if the bet loses and to chirp "thanks a lot" when she receives all or ½ of the winning wager when the bet wins.

Actually, the more I contemplate this, the more certain I am that this is a very simple "short con"

I have never had this happen to me,

I have had people ask me "what do you do for a living", or "wow you must be winning with all that money in front of you"

these questions are only asked of me when I have alot of chips in front of me, (even if its just a bunch of red chips, its the fact that its alot of chips)

I personally like to play with red chips and black chips and no green chips because then my chip stack doesnt get to big but I still have black chips for when It becomes time to make a big bet
