The movie 21, and counting?

#1
Alright, I know how to count cards and I have for a while, but simple counting cards. I saw the movie 21 and 90% of the time, the counts were between +10 and +19 or something...How is it like possible they can get that high of a count. I know that casinos use 6 decks ussualy, But are all 6 decks mixed togather or something?? how could they get to +15 or something the odds of it happening once esspecialy how well they shuffle are VERY low.

It's very easy to get consistent high counts like that... in Hollywood. :cat:

First off,I loved the movie. What was strange though was when Ben knew the count was +13 when the rest of the team couldn't get it. Kevin Spacey was turning the cards over slowly yet none of the experienced in Vegas team members could get the count right-didn't make sense. Once again, I think the cast was great and I loved the movie.

According to most of the guys on that team, there is almost nothing in the movie that resembles reality.
There have been some decent documentaries though that they have been in. One I remember from the History Channel...

Yup and that was packed with nonsense as well. I've had long conversation with some of the BP's who are represented in both BDTH and BV and the real stories are vastly different to what has been shown to date (and i’m not claiming to be any great expert on the subject). I wouldn't say they were more shocking or anything like that - if anything a little less glitzy. The media always likes to use creative license to build in suspense and make the story interesting.
Oh and 21 sucked major style. I don't care about factual inaccuracies or even the rubbish they spouted about counting; the story was a B movie, the script was a B movie, the characters were caricatures and the acting was awful. The tragedy is that if they'd gone with the story in BDTH it actually could have been an alright film.

I thought it was at least a little better haha...

Are there any other documentaries/films that are decent?

As far as the MIT team go not really - you'll get conflicting stories regarding some events from different players and that boils down to simple recollection and perspective.
If it's just about Card Counting, i really like 'The Hot Shoe'

I am sitting at the airport heading out to Vegas. I downloaded the movie The Last Casino and I'm gonna watch it on the plane. I always like movies about Vegas and gaming. To me it's just theater, so I don't care if it's fluffed up. And I've always liked Breaking Vegas - I wish they would make more of them. I've seen every one.

"The Last Casino" is what you would expect from a High School class project.
But it will kill some time on the plane, and for that it serves a good purpose.

OK, perhaps I expected more. The acting was high school quality for sure. It passed the time... Now I need a good movie. Maybe Nightmare on Elm Street later at the Palms...

Blackjack movies are universally poor is that the subject is stunningly boring.

Somebody bets money. Somebody wins or loses money.

The modal movie patron will soon be snoring.

Most square citizens find it engaging if THEIR money is at risk.

This is similar to asking me to watch a bowling tournament or a flower show.

Seen any Hollywood movies of these lately ?

the movie 21

Look-it's a movie and it's fun to watch, and Liza Lapira could sit there and recite her A B C's and I'd pay for a ticket. Done deal.
