Breaking Even..

so the net .. after two Vegas trips 1 for 4 days the other for only 24 hours is frustratingly even (the cost of a ticket and taxi ride)

The second trip yielded a couple of grand from various casinos which i then promptly donated to the cosmo .. (which also had surrender)

Cosmo did not pay attention to my buy in .. so I was definitely frustrated when they told me I was in for about 1/2 of my actual buy in ..

I then proceeded to continue to play and be down about 1/4 my overall profit.. and then got tired and gave it all to them.

Is there a max time limit you play and then leave, or a stop loss.. ?

I must have played at the cosmo for 6 hours... very disappointing..

Question - would you ever return to place that you donated your profit?
in hopes of reclamation?

do you consider breaking even a win? <cuz' I feel like a big LOSER>

Playing for 4 days and being even is not unusual, sounds like my last few trips to AC. Thankfully had better luck in other places.

Also, make sure to point out to the floorperson you bought in for more. Ploppy it up! Its quasi-cover and and helps ensure they record your loss correctly, even though at times I think they'll still ignore your buy-in anyway.

I can relate to getting tired and subsequently losing. I find it's important for me to keep well rested and not to push it when I get tired. With tiredness comes poor judgment, impatience, and sometimes pushing one's luck just to get it over with one way or the other. That's a far cry from keeping an even keel and always making the appropriate bet for the particular circumstances. When I sense myself getting tired, I will usually call it quits, even if behind. I'm still a work in progress. A few losses here and there are good for the ploppy image.

You didn't donate your money. They are simply holding it in escrow until you come back for it.

Ass whippings, failure, loathing, and despair

You do realize that they're going to take your money, or give you very little, a good percentage of the time? And that at any time you can run into stretches where you hemorrhage money, losing double downs right and left and getting stomped in large counts and small?

I lost four of my first five sessions, and that's mostly because the sole winning session was a 20-minute stopover at a right eight-deck shoe at point C, during a trip from point A to point B.

These sessions spanned a period of just under 20 hours. Two of them featured losses of 8 and 12 max bets, respectively.

Officer: What's the trick then?
T.E. Lawrence: The trick, William Potter, is not minding that it hurts.

Well my first and only trip to Vegas (and Reno to be fair), as a counter (back in March), resulted in a net loss of over 500 units. Breaking even ain't so terrible!

After such a loss, breaking even is cause for a real celebration! :celebrate
