Imagine my shock when I saw last night at one joint, one empty $10 table and another one with only 1 player at it. I can never remember that ever happening before on a weekend night.

What time was it? In Borgata on a weekend night like 9 pm , I have seen 3 BJ 10$ tables empty.

I've been there a few times recently and was surprised how busy it was.
The weekend before Thanksgiving, the Showboat was mobbed and both the casino and the danceclub was packed at Taj.
Was at Trop last Thursday( the 2nd?) and it was nicely crowded. Carmines still had people waiting for tables when we left at 10PM.

The Borgata actually closes it's newest hotel, The Water Club, Monday thru Thursday, because they don't have the business. Also, they make the casino seem more crowded than it is by closing down so many tables, whereby open pits are crowded. But I never found it difficult to find a $10 table at any time day or night Thursday of last week, so even the attempted condensing of pit play did not work. They are the most popular of all the AC casinos and they are clearly hurting.

I heard the Borgata laid off 200 people.

That does not surprise me. I even got a parking space on the first level not far from the door. The surrounding states and the economy are taking their toll.

The Midwest casinos are hurting also.

But that can be a very good thing for us, I have seen some real cool things lately.:cool:

CP
Is the midwest area just due to the economic downturn, CP or is there some expansion going on there as well?

Ditto that. How bad is the business? Bad... without much of patrons... so much so ... Bally's, a property of the Evil Empire ;) , just offers 2 tables of $15 6deckers, with decent pen, and without the NMSE signs...any APs can wong the games now until further notice!

Only rookies park in the garage, everybody knows there's way better parking in the outside lot, and that they sometimes leave the gate open cause all the poker players park in the ouside lot and they all have blackcards and get free parking so they just don't put an attendant there.

What do you consider better parking? Closer to the poker room? Where you get to walk in the rain? Where you get to scrape the ice off your windshield? Where you get to brush the snow off your car before you can drive off? Where you have to drag your suitcases down steps to get to your car? Really, Ferret, I don't know how you came up with that one? Actually, the best is probably Valet -- let someone else fetch your car. But as I like to visit my car from time to time to get things stored there (nothing of value), I prefer self parking in the garage.

I prefer the outdoor lots at the stores at the ends of the Boardwalk. Last time in the Caesar's garage somebody used my car as a urinal (like they often use the whole garage as a urinal) and the time spent driving around in the garage and finding a spot isn't welcome.

We were talking about the Borgata.

At the Taj I have a special place right by the exit not many know about. Always serves me well, since no street parking there to speak of.

Trump Plaza there is a special place for black card holders that many pass up, but I haven't been there in many moons.

Never had my car pissed on but agree that many drunken gamblers and some not so drunk do make the outdoors, even garages, their personal urinal. I've seen it is open parking lots as well.

Come to think of it, I think I'll start carrying disinfectant wipes to wipe off my chair and table area when I play blackjack. God only knows how many diseases and communicable germs are left there for the catching! Even the chips may have been (indirectly) places we wouldn't want to know about.

Was there on Dec 23rd 7 pm - Dec 24th 7 pm. Hopped casinos from Plaza to Taj and went over to Borgata.

Caesars, WWW , Plaza, Resorts , Showboat can be literally closed. They all have one BJ pit with what 4/5 tables on the main floor and one or two tables in the high limit. Not sure where the HL room in Plaza is - have not seen. Bally's was a bit better , not as bad as others.

Taj's bj its was a bit crowded late nights , but the winner seems Borgata. They still had to close several BJ tables - the 10$ ones near the open parking entrance were closed, But the other side was full with a lot of crowd.
