Vegas Trip Report

Just home from 10 days in Vegas. Won't bore ya with all the details. Just a quick summary and few observations while they are still fresh in my mind.

10 days, 9 nights. expenses $600 ($298 rt airfare including all taxes and fees, 2 weekend nights @ casino rate $49, 7 nights comped. most meal comped, a couple nights out at clubs ect)

played 94 hours of blackjack, mostly 6-8 deck with some double deck. Bet spread $10-$125, ($10-$75 double deck)

Hit my low of - 312 units (-$3120) on 3rd day.
Hit high of +264 units (+2640) on 8th day
Finished up 186 units (+1860). Was hoping for slightly better, but seemed adequate after rocky start.

Spent 1 afternoon downtown and was backed off twice! (only two back offs of trip) Once at El Cortez after about 10 minutes at double deck. Had only spread from $10 to $50! seems the downtown joints are real sensative.

Each time I visit Vegas (twice a year) seems there are fewer stand 17 games. Almosty nonexistant now

Some of the bigger places like MGM, where I stayed three nights, have like 50 tables open, making it very easy to wong in and out of games. (I mostly wong out) That alone makes the games superior to AC where I normally play.

All in all a good trip, great weather, did some swimming ( I like that flowing river pool at the MGM.), and am looking forward to my next trip in february. Until then its back to the AC grindwith a few short trips to foxwood mixed in. yuk!

Question: wondering how many of you have relocated to vegas from other areas over the years??

same max bet??

My guess is you are going to say the max bet should be the same for both games, based on the total bankroll. That if I want to cut down the spread for double deck it should be something like $20-$125.

Next time in El Cortez ,go $20 off the shuffle, drop if the count tanks, and raise only on wins. You can let a $20 win ride for an $40 bet and even ride that to a $80 bet, but if you jump from $10 to $40 on a losing bet, you're toast.
In DD, a spread more than 1-4 is asking for attention.

really, Shadroch?? I thought you could go 1-4 in a single deck game and 1-6 or 1-8 in a double. especially a $10 game. I don't have much experience playing double deck, so guess I was too aggresive. (at least for El C) I bet $10off the top, 25 @ +2, 50 a@ +3, and was going to go 75 @ +4, but never got the chance. Oh well no biggie. I won't be back for 5 months and then will hit em again.

1-4 spread in SD will be pushing it, especially for the cortez, especially if your max bet is above say $50. For SD at the cortez, i play a 2-1-3 or 2-1-4 spread. for DD, 1-5. The pen and rules are too good to get greedy. keep it short their too. 1-8 forget it. even at the worst games in the US, DD with HE of 0.75%, they aren't going to tolerate that very well anywhere. maybe if you keep it really short, sub 30 mins, but don't quote me on it.

Yes. Spread should ALWAYS be calc'd from the topBet down. $25-125 would be okay with frequent exits. zg

Dont know how that would have worked at the downtown joints, since El C wouldn't even tolerate my $10-$50 spread. I may not waste my time downtown next trip for even a day.

You are too paranoid, and maybe LOOK LIKE a counter. DT casinos will tolerate big spreads (low stakes) all day long.
And the crap 2D games there (55% pene) will tolerate 1-20+ and/or obnoxious exiting. zg

Ps - Notwithstanding, the EC has THE SHARPEST pit mgmt in DT. zg

First steps to getting away with a large spread at the El Cortez:
Don't shave or bathe for a few days, "John Deere" hat on head, and spill a little beer on the floor when you walk up to the table.

Lol, I'll have the perfect camo next week - beer in hand and about 10 in belly!

Though if I'm playing at that time, it'll be min bet at BS. Can still remember that whilst half mcgoofed, trying to remember the count? That'll hurt my brain lol.
