BlackjackInfo Message Posting Guidelines

Common sense will go a long way in helping you decide how to post. Here are some extra guidelines:

  • Choose a good title for your post. You'll get more responses to a post titled 'Which casinos offer single deck in Vegas?' than to the same post titled 'Help!'.
  • Remember your audience. When you post a request on the boards, it should be directed to the entire community, not just a single person. If you're talking to a single person, consider using Private Messaging instead.
  • Be nice. While intelligent people can and will disagree, make an extra effort to be civil.
  • Inappropriate language or references to illegal conduct don't belong here.
  • Editing your messages is allowed, but please refrain from editing away the general idea of a message that has replies. This creates orphaned replies that don't make sense.
Because of the particular nature of the blackjack world, there are a few more considerations that apply:
  • Many players are sensitive about their identity. Posts that reveal the identity of another player will be edited or deleted by moderators. Intentional or malicious posts of this nature may result in a temporary or permanent ban from the message forums at the discretion of moderators.
  • Exceptional game opportunities come and go, and the most surefire way to kill most of them is to post about them on a public message board. Use discretion when deciding how much to reveal about a play.
Last of all, any message board has to deal with the issue of commercial posts and unwanted spam:
  • Unsolicited ads or spam will be deleted.
  • Posts that mention other sites within the blackjack community are fine. I want this site to be a part of the overall community, so if there is an interesting post on another message board, feel free to mention it and link to it. However, this is not an invitation to spam the board with links to your own site without having something of value to contribute.
  • If a user posts messages without meaningful content, it's often because they simply want the links in their signature to be spotted by the search engines. If that appears to be the case, the messages will be removed.
  • Access to this site may be free, but running it is not. Therefore there's a double standard when it comes to commercial posts. As the administrator, I will occasionally post messages that are commercial in nature. For example, I'll be posting when new titles are available at the BlackjackInfo store.
Private Messaging:

  • No spam via private message.
  • No harassing other users via private message.
  • No abusive language or personal attacks via private message.
  • If you receive an inappropriate PM, please report it to the moderators.
  • If a claim is made of an inappropriate PM, please be advised that the administrator may view your PMs to establish the validity of the claim. If that concerns you, don't use the PM feature.
  • Abusive PMs are a no-warning banning offense.
The online casino portion of the message boards has its own set of potential trouble spots:
  • With the advent of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act in the US, direct links to online casinos are no longer permitted on the message boards.
  • Due to the nature of online gambling, and the nature of an open forum, we're bound to get messages mentioning online casinos that I suspect are unfair to their players, either through manipulation of the odds or delaying payments to players. While I'll make every effort to police the forums and comment as I deem appropriate, BlackjackInfo offers no guarantee of any kind with respect to the actions of casinos mentioned on the board.
Well, enough worrisome details. Get out there and enjoy the community.
