My old ploppy strategy.. *warning, pretty crummy stuff.

I used to be a straight BS player, nothing more nothing less.

I used to try and go off winning streaks. Every time I won a bet, I'd take half my winnings and stack it on top. Something like this;

Bet $20----Win. Keep $10, add $10
Bet $30----Win. Keep $15, add $15
Bet $45----Win. Keep $25, add $20
Bet $65----Win. Keep $35, add $30
Bet $95----Win. Start over.

Anytime you lost, you start over.. I'd keep going till I won 5 in a row and start over.. A couple times I kept going till I lost and reached table max a few times.. I won over 3K when that happened but those were some rare moments. I'll be the only one who admits this but I was down as a gambler when using that strategy. Probably only $300 as I have won a lot, and lost a lot doing that.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

But, I realized how stupid this was.
Stopped playing blackjack for a long time. Did research, practiced, and learned CCing. Counting is the best thing that ever happened to me in the blackjack/casino world.

I can never play a single hand of BJ without counting now. Why play without the advantage?

Since you already know this is voodoo, I'll go ahead and ask a serious question: What did you do when you won a double or split?

I'm quite familiar with progressive betting ;) Lose the double downs/splits regularly at a high bet, and you get your butt kicked for the session.

I'd treat those as bonuses and keep all the winning, just continue to do the keep half, half on top method. If I got a natural I'd just take the 3:2 payout and throw it on and keep the original wager that I won.

This is true, losing on double downs and splits w/ double downs would deplete my chip stack and I'd have to dig back into my pockets..

However if won on big bets they would be huge boosters.. My now ploppy friends copied this method. I had one friend win 16 hands in a row of continuous progressive betting.. He won all splits and double downs and ended up with a little over $3200 by starting out with a $10 bet and tipping

The most wins in a row I have gotten doing this was around 8 or 9.

Funny, the very guy who introduced me to card counting, himself was a hopeless progression player. He did not feel confident enough to count on the trip I shared with him to Reno, but he decided he would use his Lose, Double, Lose Double, Lose Double, Lose, Start Over progression. He would say, "What are the odds of losing three in a row using perfect basic strategy!" He claimed he had never lost with this strategy of his. Never. (Could be true if he had never tried it before.) Anyways, shortly into the trip he had blown his bankroll, except for an amount he reserved for buying a prostitute. I had tried until I was blue in the face to save him from his progression fallacy, but it bounced off deaf ears, until he found out for himself. Once you go for a progression, it becomes very difficult, if not impossible, to see the truth.

That is a terrible progression LOL. A long time ago using my older brothers ID when I was 17, I tried winning a quick $20 to get a "free" meal. I bet on red 4 times in a row and lost continually doubling my losses, finally on my 5th bet I got it all back nearly losing all my money. Never again.

My old progression strategy was pretty stupid. I could never really play like that again, even if I really wanted to. I would most of time time lose 5 hands in a row before I even won 3 in a row.
