6:5 in Indiana??

Say it isn't so...this from the transcript of the 11/10/10 IGC meeting:

"Grand Vxxxxxxx's request was approved to pay
out odds of six to five on low minimum wage blackjack tables."

Can anyone confirm that this has actually ocurred? Used to be some pretty good games at that location.

I haven't seen any. The casino just changed hands, though. Still a decent place. Not fantastic, because they hit soft seventeen, but average pen and they'll give you a comp for food if you play a couple hours.

Thanks moo,

Haven't been in awhile but I recall a pretty good $25 min 2d game there in the past.

Anywho, I was at the place in Larry Bird's home town not too long ago and was suprised (and happy) to see that they now stand on soft 17 - I believe this is a change for that location. Just an FYI if anyone happens to get there at all. Place is in the friggin' middle of nowhere, though.

The 2d went to D9. Still an ok game, but nothing to write home about.

As stated in original post - transcript of Indiana Gaming Commission meeting of November 10, 2010.

Here ya go...

I read it and it pisses me off big time. The State will sell out it's people every time if it can make an extra cent doing it:vomit:

BJ as a game worth playing will be a thing of the past within the next 10 years. If you are a Pro or considering it, think again. I also predict alot of empty casinos in the near future, starting with Michigans Upper Penn. and working it's way down to Vegas.

Competition is not going to happen as I was hoping, and the gamblers will all be running out of money as the casino gets so greedy that no one can win and the casino finally collapses.

yup tryin to turn these joints into some sorta sterile environment, just me i guess but i don't think it's gonna work. turn the joints into little more than a carny show sorta thing, people gonna get tired of that.
the joints should realize they got a jungle going on, something in essence that is like nature and as such the viability of their operations, the self sustaining nature of the joints requires real genuine life giving sustenance just as the jungle does. kill that and essentially the joints will shoot their self in the foot.

Well said - I wholeheartedly agree. It's a bit ironic for this joint, as they have advertised themselves as having "the most player friendly BJ rules" in the area - wonder if they changed the billboards....doubt it.

That being said, it's also surprising given the fact that this place has always struggled in the face of decent competition from the place over in Lawrenceburg and other small shops at least somewhat in the area. Apparently they're content to just be the location of choice for the geriatric slot crowd.

Blah.

I am a little worried about all the competition. It's good for us, but I worry about a mass exodus of capital from the casino business.

It's way overbuilt now, and even if things recover I don't think gambling will be the business it once was.

i have found recently that with casinos being built in cincinnati and possibly chicago the stores in southern indiana and the region have actually got more loose in terms of games and comps. i have found many $5 games in both BJ and SP21 that i have never seen prior. My comps as of late have been very generous with pit staff asking me how many are in my party for meal comps. i think if GV went to 6-5 they would pull back quickly as tables emptied. This isn't Vegas after all. The audience is limited and local.

I believe gambling, casinos, will experience something akin to the housing bubble, and it to will burst with devastating consequences for the greedy, evil casino.:whip:

apparently the three indiana casino's closest to cincinnati generate around seven hundred million dollars a year.
from what i've been reading it's projected that the cincinnati casino will siphon off about two hundred million of that.
....... then there is talk of opening up river downs (race track) in cincinnati for slots parlor.
edit: i figure i can get about 0.0014% of that spread around money:rolleyes:
