No BJ on split Aces.

#1
Hi all. I was wondering if anyone knows the cost in E.V. on splitting aces when the possible resulting BJ only counts as 21, and even if this makes a difference to basic strategy decisions. I had a good look through Wong's Basic Blackjack and D.S's Blackjack Attack but couldn't find any references to this awful U.K. rule. I can only assume in the U.S. that Bj means BJ even after splitting Aces. I certainly don't know how to do the calculations and would be very graeful if anyone could enlighten me.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not aware of any US casino that counts a two card 21 as a BJ after you've split either tens or aces. Todays BS takes the fact you won't get 3-2 on these hands into account.

O.P. mentioned "this awful U.K. rule"

Apparently he thinks that other countries pay 3:2 on a 2 card 21 generated from split Aces or Tens.

Traditional British rules are very bad though.

No Hole Card, Insurance ONLY if you have a Blackjack.

No split 4's permitted.

All changed now.
