Good Luck Charms.

#1
I was playing at a $50 table for a few hours today and across from me saw a guy in in his 70's SITTING at the $100 table today and NOT playing. He was just spectating. He was not with any of the players. Found this kinda strange and was watching as a couple of the plops rang up big wins. The old guy is high fiving after each winning hand like he was actually playing himself and giving instructions on how to play hands etc.
I knew what was going on as he was hustling the table as their "good luck charm".
Sure enough the one plop cashes out over $15K and flips the old guy 3 blacks. Nice work if you can get it. then he tries to squeeze into my table and I give him a nasty look and tell him we are all full up. How a casino tolerates this is beyond me. Someone says he comes in every day and does the same thing.

Yeah, if you have a stranger hovering around you, giving you advice, make sure you do whatever you can to ignore them completely, don't engage them in conversation, or they'll hit you up for being a good luck charm, and can be quite annoying - so much so I would like to punch them in the face if I could get away with it.

Well I know why most casinos don't do anything, because they're stupid and don't care if they have chip hustlers intimidating their patrons :) Rather focus on why that guy betting reds is spreading is his bet so much.

I do recall one incident where a casino does try to prevent this, it was Pocono Downs in Wilkes-Barre, PA, so have to give them credit for that.

The casinos know EXACTLY who these guys are and they do very much care. These people are sometimes VERY DANGEROUS and the casinos know it. (Not to mention the fact that that $300 is $300 that the casino now CAN'T GET).

I'm guessing that this was in Atlantic City where this happened. In A.C.; the casinos by law cannot kick out a chip hustler UNLESS a patron complains. I have personally complained about them before, and by doing so have often gained very valuable "brownie points" with the PC, who subsequently expressed their gratitude not ONLY verbally, but in other, +EV ways ;).

There is NO WAY this could have happened in Vegas. A pit boss who allowed this would be in big trouble with HIS boss, possibly even up to the point of losing his job!

Yep primarily see this in AC, almost infested with hustlers, although on occasion seen it in other casinos.

It is ridiculous if that's the law, seems much more dangerous for the patron to have to complain to have the hustler thrown out. But knowing NJ, and the people they tend to elect, not shocked at all this is the law.

And your right, these people can be highly dangerous, that's why I advise other APs to avoid them at all costs.

Actually happened in Philly. I mean the guy was "a harmless old man" a grandfather type, well dressed, etc. who they say was killing time while his wife was playing slots which I doubt but he did take his $300 and and proceeded straight to the the $25 table so perhaps they got it back. I think the dealers were more pissed that they did not get the $300. the pit said that as long as no one complained he could SIT at the table, and since everyone was winning the "gamblers creed" is to not rock the boat as that might interrupt the sacred flow of the cards.

I had a girl I was playing next to play her $100 and then run out. She then tried to hustle me for a few chips so I left the table. I came back to another table a few hours later and she was hustling another guy but he was on the other side of the table so no problem for me but he gave her a few chips.

On the plus side I had a $15 bet up and this guy next to me who had hit a hot streak and won a couple grand puts 2 greens on my bet and says hope you get blackjack and you get to keep it. I got blackjack and almost fell off my chair. I made him take $75 of it and I kept $50.

Another time I was playing with a guy who was on fire he was playing around $500 a hand and made about $15K. I was being nice and congradulating him on his wins and he flipped me a black when he left.

here is the other side of that coin. Im playing lucky ladies in a huge positive count and have my two hands covered with $25 max on the ladies. Kid next to me is not going to bet it. I convince him to throw a quarter on the lucky ladies as I knew there were 4 left out of 6 and the shoe was almost over. Could not put my money up for him as it against the store rules. grrrr Bang he gets the 2 queen of hearts and goes wild. 5 orange chips come across the felt. Didn't even say thank you.:flame:
