single deck losses

Ok I use ko which is weak for 1d but still it gets about double the hourly rate of ko for 6d at 1/2 the spread. Also, I guess I have to say that I have only played about 45 hours of single deck total. However, I've lost 350 units playing it. When I last played at El Cortez, it just seemed like I couldn't win. Then I play 6d with a much higher house edge and I win at it. This is probably just negative variance, but does ko have a really high standard deviation for single deck or what?

Your problem... you were playing at EC.
ya, ec is a great casino, no dd restrictions on single deck full pay. The only reason I didn't get backed off was because I just kept on losing.

KO is a very poor choice for SD. but yes, playing SD also gives you very high SD, (standard deviations) or variance I should say. sometimes very bad, but most times VERY GOOD.

You gotta be kidding me. 1/2 the 6D spread of 6D? What, 1:6 or even 1:8 on SD, and you're talking about wild variance. You're lucky you didn't get the boot, especially at that place.
45 hours of SD at the same place? I hope it wasn't in the same month.
K.O in single deck? Try RPC, AOII or Zen.

Losing is not good cover. Maybe you are making BIG mistakes - one common error is that some newbies chronically reverse the count from + to (-). zg

Mm no I did not reverse the count. I think I've had enough practice to avoid making an error like that. My spread was $5-$25. Sometimes I pressed on the big bets to $30 or $35. Now this was maybe 7 hours at cortez. I also spread 1-4 in reno a while back and lost around 200 units.

I guess I'm just thinking high variance. Yes I know KO is weak for single deck but I am not going to learn a whole new count just to play single deck which comprises only about 10% of my play.

KO is fine for 1D. The thing about good 1D game is that due to the increased # of large bets/hr the swings are pronounced, but the NO is shorter nonetheless.

Also - EC is sharp enough to recognize you are counting and not run you off while you are losing. zg

Ya, probably just bad luck for two sizable trips to reno and vegas. Kinda annoying cause single deck is such a good game, but whatever. Anyway, I have been backed off at at least 3 places red chipping it at 1d, just not at el cortez. Maybe the combination of red chipping and losing made them hold off on the backoff.

My last trip to Vegas, I was playing my "special" system and within 15 minutes I was asked to flat bet, within another 20 I was asked to leave. Don't quite know if it was because black chipping 1-12 though.

I personally like Aria. Hit them up for $2500 once in about three hours green chipping another 3k black chipping 6 months later. Needless to say I wont be black chipping again when I go back, it seemed I was pushing the envelope a little too hard. If they are nice I want to milk it instead of stepping over the line and taking advantage of their generousity.

Either way though, it's a lose-lose situation. They still have you made.
