The Chat!

I find it a great chance to find out why someone is an ex anything would come to a site that is filled with advisaries. Why come here? Why admit that you are a hunter and like the taste of meat then sit around with a bunch of deer talking about the hunt! Call me paranoid but is it possibly to have information leaked back to people you don't want to know about you? I mean a cyber-security breach that allows a person gather info about us? A hole in the ol' firewall type?

The hunters no doubt already visit the site to gather information. That caution is just as valid now as ever. Thanks for the caution to those who may forget this, blackchip.

Yes they do, It's kinda like well....I've got the skills, why not use them for myself. There was a team in the late 90's that was hitting Vegas pretty hard, the leader of the team was J.H. and was a floorman at Harrah's...They did have a surveillance guy in the group M.C. They did pretty good for a while but just got too famous too fast. All subsequently got out of the business or were asked to leave, Havent heard from them in years...M.C. was a friend of mine, he fell off the grid.

Pardon me while I speculate.
I would suspect that the world of casino survaliance is fairly small and the folks in the business would have at least passing knowledge of each other.
What would be the penalty for an employee caught counting in another store? Seems like the risk and reward isn't worth it.
The people I know who worked in casino survaliance came to hate casinos and couldn't be dragged into one on their days off.

As for a Surveillance employee, I would hope they used discretion and chose their target casino's wisely. Not all casinos share information with others, so if you played at one of these, the employee would not be at liberty to be exposed if caught counting...additionally if the employee picked casino's with a weak surveillance dept. and pit personnel, You could probably count there for a long time.

When it comes to repercussions if caught...so long as you werent team playing, Banged them out of too much or was caught in a casino that was friendly to the employee's...they would get called into their Directors office and told not to do that again....I know.

And yes the Surveillance community is rather small compaired to other casino departments, But surveillance personnel dont really see each other that much. I used to talk to this one guy for a couple years (on the phone often), He called me up and offered me a job for a casino that was opening. When I went there we saw each other for the first time in years and we both laughed and said ,"man, I thought you would look different". Surveillance guys are well connected with each other in many cases but rarely meet.

Casinos and cheating...

ExGriff.. just curious did you ever run into or observe the house cheating customers at all? How concerned should we all be about this? Thanks!

I know surveillance people who have no qualms about counting in a "foreign" casino. I doubt it would jeopardize their job. The very fact that they are good enough to use counting on the other side of the fence speaks volumes for their ability to catch counters at their home casino. It might even accrue to their advantage if caught.

Check out "the casinos cheating, Ect. Ect." under General. This thread touched upon your question...but you can still ask it on Monday.

Keep on playing.

Security breach?

I still think if I was a pro ap I would not actively partake in the chat for security reasons. I don't let anyone know things about me that can be used to identify me inside or outside the gaming enviroment. My choice but it is a part of my sense of security that I like to operate under. Think about it? All us rabbits sitting around talking and the hound dog wants to be our buddy?

Certainly nothing wrong with being cautious, BCJ. However, I am pretty sure Ex-griff is not the first "hound dog" to visit this site. I suspect others visit regularly. If ex-griff was really undercover, would he use a handle like ex-griff.:laugh: I also know that he did not initiate this chat. The idea was proposed to him, rather than the other way around. So you should definately take whatever precautions you feel neccessary, and do what make you feel comfortable. I personally will be there. I view it as an opportunity that out weighs the risk.

Brush piles?

Hey Kewlj, I understand your pov but has anyone like Ken checked out the IP address just to make sure it matches a viable person not coming from Griffin Inc itself? Yep call me chicken little but I don't like to expose myself to risk. I'm sure if someone wanted to find out more about me and my forte' it could be done. I just haven't seen anything from Ken about the session and would feel more at ease if he posted the "All's Clear" on this one.
