Returning to the scene of the backoff?

Does anyone have experience with going back to one of your "regular stores" after getting the tap?

I got BO'd at a store 4 months ago and want to try to go back in and play. This is a fairly small store with only 2 pits open, typically (3 on weekends). It is a local store for me so the primary reason I got BO'd was that I was in there too often and they had a lot of tape to roll back on me (143 playing hours in about 7 months).

If I had only played here a few times before getting tapped, I think I could play and easily fly under the radar but it is fairly likely when I walk back in there, most of the dealers and PB's will recognize me and say something like...."Hey, I haven't seen you in a while. Where have you been?", if they don't know that I've been told not to play BJ. If they do know then I won't even be allowed to sit down. Short of wearing some kind of elaborate costume with a rubber nose, wig, glasses, etc. I don't see anyway around being recognized.

I plan on staying away from the shift that was on when I got BO'd but I think the heat started several weeks before across every shift, the word spread about me, and that just happened to be the shift to finally tap me. In retrospect there were signs that should have told me to stay away awhile but I didn't take them seriously enough.

When they gave me the hook, I left quietly without incident and gave no one reason to dislike me (other than beating the game)

Is it even possible for me to go back here after only 4 months, or is it too soon? If I try to go back now, what are some steps I should take to avoid a rebooting?

Thanks,

JG

appearances

The more distinctive your look the more of an issue
The more you bet or won also
Rule of thumb 6 mo. Same shift or different shift
Some may say different shift immediately, but there play may not grab attention

Seems your still wary, maybe wait another 2 months & different shifts during busy times.

Change your look

Mr. JG

I was B-Offed a great DD after 3 visits, the last a very successful session, and told by the brass no more BJ, I even gave them a hard time about it in the VIP room loud enough so the other players could hear and know what was going down. This was by the Table Games Mgr and the Head Of Surveillance, (I think they really just wanted to meet me in person;))

4 1/2 months later it became apparent, by some slippery action on my part, that they had not put me in the computer:cool:,,,so I went back to playing all but the DD, but moving around alot and doing some other games, like some carny games:laugh:

What I decided to do was always use my card, that was my plan, not to be sneaky like a weasel, but be stand up like a man should be. Anyhow, a few months later I eyed a very fine 6d going down and decided to take a seat, I no more than settled in when Tap, Tap, "Mr. Panther we need to talk with you", Oh Shi# another tresspass and the wife will kill me--- were my immediate thoughts, they then say to me "We have come to a decision about you and you can play only slots, no BJ, no table games, only slots, now color up your chips". Did I just hear right,,,the entire table became silent, the player next to me sayz "I think someone doesn't like you" and as they color up my chips I watch as the brass enter my info into the computer and have words with the pit, as I turn and walk away, yes, amazed that they allow me to walk away, whew! No tresspass, and I knew that they knew that I was not a chump run of the mill CCer. (Not that there is anything wrong with chump, run of the mill card counters:joker:).

Why no tresspass,,?,,I believe because I never hid a thing, I was open and played rated, not a weasel, because I felt that was the best way to protect myself, and it did prove correct. So I and the wife can still go there and enjoy all the comps etc that we get on a monthly basis. I did have a little fun
with them recently as I wanted to play live poker, and not sure if I was allowed I handed the players card to the poker desk and said, "you may want to call upstairs and see if I am allowed to play", the Poker Mgr says" Oh no, I am sure you can play" and as he keys me in the computer he freezes, his face drops for a few seconds and decides to call surveillance, the word comes down and he says haltingly, "yes, you can play poker", and I just knew all the time I was playing I had eyes on me hoping I would lose,,and I did, my full house lost to a straight flush with a very large pot.:(

There was another time shortly after the second tap that my wife was hitting big on the slots, (she has a penchant for that), she was giving me the slips to cash in, some $8000 worth and I had to go to the HL cage, and as I did they had to call surveillance and wanted my card, which they scanned while having a conversation with surveillance,,,I got a big kick out of that, and looked at the cameras with a big smile.

So sometimes, if you are not a weasel, you can make Lemonaide out of Lemons,( and it helps if your wife is almost always with you and hitting them hard on the slots) even in the evil casino, as I hope to this evening in that very same place:cool:

My best to you JG:)

Its very easy to go back.
Change your appearance SLIGHTLY, get an alternate players card, and just... DO IT! zg

My opinion, if you had just left without causing a scene after your first backoff and stayed out for a year you might have gotten back in with a fresh players card or as an unrated player. Raising a stink has pretty much guaranteed they will remember you.

I wouldn't waste time getting a new players card...wait a year and try to play unrated on a different shift, if they confront you tell them you don't remember them telling you...generally though if you have other places to play you should just play the other places and wait until you need that game again in your rotation to attempt to recycle it.

Big, thanks for the reply:)

I made a scene, a small one, because I knew that they were for sure going to remember me, and I knew they didn't want others to know what they were doing, and it is my personality to not leave with my tail tucked between my legs.

No, if I am not wanted I am not going to sneak around, again, not really in my personality,, if you don't want my action,,,then F-You, I do have another life.

Unbelievable.

I wholeheartedly agree with the main point of your post, but as far as revealing secrets; JG is arguably the least innocent person in the whole history of blackjack.

Sucker,

As the OP of this thread and one who uses the initials JG, my initial reaction to your post was WTF? As a part-time AP for only a year, I don't even know enough secrets to be the least innocent person in the history of BJ. After further reflection, I think we are talking about James Grossjean here? He would be the only JG I've heard of who could meet that standard.
