barona vs harrahs rincon

Edge

I would give the overall edge to Barona. Harrahs Rincon does have DD with good pen, DAS, late surrender, split to 4 hands (except A's) with a $25 minimum. Usually have 2 tables open with this game. Also, floor at Rincon doesn't "eyeball" you as much if you start winning (at least my experience). HL room at Rincon has same game with $50 minimum, $100 at Barona.

As far as hotel, restaurants, etc. goes both are about the same. Rincon does have a very nice pool area.

Have a good trip.

Barons chipless

Barona has some of the most liberal blackjack rules in the country.

I was on their website and noticed Chipless bj. Electronic betting, but with real dealer and real shoe.
Would any of you APs ever play this? I don't know if I'd be comfortable offering 100% transparency to my betting patterns via computer chips!!!!

Only for a very short time. It's the I-table, which was pulled out of Parx (in PA) a few months ago. They can track your bets and read the cards as they are dealt, and make a determination about your skills.

And when to shuffle. zg

Sd/dd

Barona has more DD tables, usually 6 to 8 during the day and more at night. Most are $25 minimum. Haven't noticed a SD on the floor, maybe HL room.

Rincon has 2 DD on the floor with $25 minimum. One SD table, 2 or 3 at night, with usual BAD rules but is $5 during the day, $10 at night, so people play.

What I do sometimes during the day is go to the HL room and see if they will drop the minimum to $25 on DD just to get some action. Dealers in HL roon during the day are lonely.

Barona DD is face down, pitch. Don't know about Rincon. No alcohol on the floor at Barona. They have ice cream, though! Remember, no free booze in CA! The only face up single deck I have seen is Super Fun 21. Barona's is fully pay SD with almost no house edge but it is $100 min. And I am sure you will get heat if you try anything.

Rincon

Both SD and DD are face down. SD is 6/5 and other lousy rules so don't go for that game. I think Rincon is not as crowded as Barona, I like the casino floor better (brighter, less smoky). VP is good by sports pit area (old poker room) if you play machines. Since your almost 21, you will love the pool area.

Like most casinos in SD county, be careful driving there. Plenty of curvy mountain roads with a lot of traffic sometimes.

Where are you staying in SD? Both are a good drive from the Downtown/Hotel Circle area with Barona being closer. You may want to look at Viejas casino.

Gaslamp

The Gaslamp district is downtown San Diego. Barona, Sycuan and Viejas will be east of town off I-8, all are within a thirty minute to an hours drive. Harrahs Rincon and Valley View are north of town up the I-15 and will be about an hour to hour-fifteen drive. Of course, missing rush hour traffic is important but you will be going the "opposite" direction probably.

how much money is a comfortable amount to bring for baronas DD ? (assuming its $25)
When I was there all DD games were $25. If you have a small bankroll stick to the shoe games.

Traffic out of SD is evil in the afternoon. I thought the 91 was bad.

At Barona, large amounts don't worry them. Since your a new player there, I would limit my buy-in to a few hundred ($25 table). One thing, don't try to "trick" them in any way! The floor people there are sharp, the dealers don't really care. Harrah's doesn't really care much about the buy-in as much but don't overdo it. The floor people are usually too busy to watch much but keep an eye on them.

Like most large cities, traffic coming into town in the morning (about 7 to 9am) is rough and going out-of-town from 3:30 to 6 is heavy. If there are 2 of you in the car use the HOV lanes, real time saver.
