I found an index generator on Arnold Snyders site. You can customize the count and # of decks on this program but it doesn't say what kind of rules it uses. Does anyone know what rules it uses?
The indexes in the book are more accurate than those produced by that generator.

Technically, the index numbers are precise to 3 decimal places.

They are just not accurate to 3 decimal places.
:)

True. But actually, they are simply wrong. I was taught that stats presented with more digits than can be known by the calculation method used, are simply wrong since they indicate a level of accuracy that doesn't exist.

you shoudn't end up with more significant numbers than you start with sort of thing.:cat:

Kind of like the original Star Trek when Spock says this will happen in 456.73648 seconds. Is that from when the question was asked, the start of the answer, the end, the middle, equidistant characters, from when you spoke or when the sound hit my ears, or when my brain interpreted the number, what was the effect of air pressure and humidity on the speed of sound?

... or Data in the first few seasons of TNG.

At least in TNG Picard was visibly annoyed at Data when he did that, and eventually the writers realized it was neither funny nor did it build Data's character.

I downloaded CVdata and I was unable to find where I can generate some indices. I searched the help and it said to use CVindex. Does anyone know what this means?
On the main page/menu,(Set-up) under define players, select the drop down menu next to simulation. From there, you will see it.

Thanks for the tip but it didn't work. I downloaded the trial edition and and numbers it spit out were a bit funny. ( It called for insurance on a +1 TC among other things). Would anyone like to run off some numbers for me or show me where I can find the indices for a HiLo 6D, DAS No surrender and H17?

Mr. Prime.
You can check with QFIT but I don't believe the trial version develops accurate numbers. It's just a trial to see how the program works. For the cost of 1 max bet, It's worth the money to buy the Casino Vérité Blackjack V5, CVShuffle, CVData & CVCX Price $350 (save $85) package.

Well 260 is roughly 6 max bets for me. Right now I think I am better off not buying it until I can increase my bankroll. But you are right, the trial doesn't give accurate numbers, I checked again and it said the trial doesn't do accurate sims.

Okay then this package is better:
Casino Vérité Blackjack V5, CVData & CVCX Price $270 (save $75)

Right in your ballpark. You can always add shuffle track later.

or just get the two sim programs
CVData & CVCX Price $195 (save $55)

I'll try to get you a quick sims w/o DAS and INS so you can see the results. These are quick and dirty so they will not be perfectly on target. I ran a sim for RPC RA indices a few weeks back, set at "greater accuracy" and my "new" laptop ran for nearly 30 hours to complete the sim. I was going to try a second run set at "Beat to Death" but I was afraid it would kill my laptop. I do not use HI-Lo so I won't know if the indices are correct.

quick and dirty

Heres a quick sim for indices.. Maybe someone using HILO can tell you if they are accurate: HILO, 4.5/6D, NoS, H17
I used a 1-12 spread
TC<=0 1 unit
1= 2unit
2= 4unit
3= 6unit
4= 10unit
5=12unit

SIM was wong out at -2.... 100 mil hands
TBA=0.768
IBA=0.893
SCORE=24.55
N0=40,740

Results are not so good. Most probably because they're not refined indices or the optimum betting spread for HILO.

I believe you should generate the indices using a flat bet, play all. You won't know optimal bet spread until you know your advantage at each TC, which you won't know till you know your indices ;). When you need to include the point at which you make big bets would if you generate risk averse indices.

per the help section of cvdata:

A Betting Strategy does not need to be included unless you want to automatically run a sim after the indexes are generated. If so, click on the Betting button on the tool bar and set a Betting strategy.
