Alright, it's been one long hot Friggin summer, no????
Aslan, Qfit, Shadroch, Jackblack, Machinist, Tthree, we all know where we each stand politically, it has become quite clear over the last few weeks. Hell even poor Sagefrog got sucked in a bit!!!!
It's pretty obvious we are all set in our beliefs and we certainly aren't changing anyones mind, at least among this group.
Whew, I know that I am sick of the heat, seems it didn't matter what store I went to it was always 100 degrees plus out! Plus no rain all summer.
Fall is just around the corner gentlemen, my favorite time of the year!!!!
Screw politics...............let's move on and get ready to enjoy this fall season.
We finally got some rain here !!!!! Yaaaaaaa!!!!:)
Anyways I'm blaming this hot summer for my crappy attitude.
3 more days and I'm off to war again for 3 weeks against the evil ones.

I got my wife to consider Turtle Creek as a vacation destination. Is it really worth the trip for an East Coaster to pay a visit (blackjack wise)? What about the local ecosystem? I love taking in the totality of natural settings that are somewhat unique. I have never really seen the great lakes area yet. Being near the top of the lower peninsula it should be a unique environment with water all around compared to the mainland. Probably some specialization of species and unique natural balances to adapt to the effect of the large lakes and bays surrounding it. My wife would probably be interested in the night life and local tourist attractions as well. Comments on that would be appreciated. What is the best time of year to visit?

As for the OP I agree. A nice cross section of opinion represented. Qfits narrow and unyielding perspective is a bit frustrating. Especially his I am the only one that has a clue attitude. I recognize everyone's right to their views and am delighted to round out my perspective with an exchange of ideas. People with such a narrow and intolerant perspective don't carry much weight in a discussion. They obviously have a hard time seeing anything but a very narrow viewpoint. As such they really don't have much of an ability to gain anything from the conversation or contribute much beyond their initial statements. There is no balance to their curiosity, nor any ability to see things from a different perspective. Very counterproductive to maintain a long discussion with these types.

Tthree,
Right friggin now and heck even into late october is great for Mi. Yes Turtle is an excellent store. I'm sure others can chime in about the place.
Also you andthe Mrs need to head up to Mackinaw Bridge, nice drive all the way up there. Lots of touristy stuff.
You will not be disappointed!

We just got back from there yesterday. I highly reccomend TC as well as Little River in Manistee about an hour to the south. TC's game is much better but Little River albeit a bit tougher (no LS) on EV but the store has great service and dealers. Pen is 85% and better at TC =) and 80% at the LR.

Somehow we always seem to scratch out enough to make it worthwhile visit. There is also Odawa in Petosky and Leelanau within 30 minutes as well, neither of which we have been to but maybe CP can provide the intell on them.

Be mindful that they are both indian casinos and I am always careful to keep the spreads within 1-8 range but on any given weekend night when the wild bunch shows up pretty much anything goes.

The high roller pit at TC (LS, S17) has two tables and gets constant attention. Go out on the main floor and have a great time.

We always enjoy or stays in both locations. Both houses were award winning in design and are located in beautiful areas right or near the lake.

The area, Traverse City, and the surroundings are a virtual Paradise this time of the year. You should go and do stay at TC casino hotel, get a card for a 10% discount and the food is great, especially the breakfast. Lots for you and the wife to do and see all around the area. I recommend the Sleeping Bear Dunes area and the drive to Odawa and then to Harbor Springs to Cross Village,,,as Macho says Mackinaw is super and across the bridge is the splendid little casino hotel on the water, a couple years old, Kewadin Ignace. These drives are mostly along the big waters and so dreamy. The drive from LR to Traverse is right along the Big Water and most scenic.

It is all heaven, truly.:)

I really looking through the recent political discourse that's been going on here. This is an essential (and really the best) part of democracy.

If hypothetically a group of people band together and said we feel left out or we believe there are ways to improve the quality of life through public means and they devote a large part of their life to trying to understand alternatives and another group says "no there isn't , keep everything as out is, worrying about externalities and casualties of society is too costly, without knowing the situation you wouldn't know who was right and who read wrong. But it doesn't make sense to say that people who by definition are searching for alternatives are closed minded. you can day they are wrong. But you're just saying hes closed minded because he doesn't see it the way you do

Most of my friends are liberal. Most are not closed minded. We have great discussions and learn a lot from the other's point of view. Qfit said I like to put up wrong information. But I like to make sure all points of view are represented and I research before each post to assure accuracy. If he thinks what I right is so incorrect his research and view point has a very narrow perspective or is simply wrong. In this internet age with the world is becoming so small most have figured out the major networks are very skewed and inaccurate. A mediocre source of information at best. Some still buy what they sell but that is because they aren't involved in current events or don't know people who are. I don't agree with the political view of the New York Times but they do a really good job of being much more accurate than most other mainstream sources (the bar is set quite low by the others). Many people are like armchair quarterbacks who parrot the party line or the slant that the networks are trying to push. Anyone who has attended a Tea Party protest and talked to the people there know how absolutely wrong the media portrayal is. Qfit's stereotype of them shows his lack of interaction with any of these current events. It is like someone talking about the Vietnam protesters like they know what they are talking about without talking to any of them but just by how the media chose to portray them. It is a very uninformed opinion. If you got down and dirty in the trenches of the current struggles you don't need the media to tell you what to believe. And it is very unlikely you will believe the media stereotype whether you share the opinions of the protesters or oppose them. People should have started to get a clue when McGovern lost in the biggest landslide in our history to Nixon but the media pundits couldn't believe it because they didn't know a single person who voted against McGovern. How out of touch with what is going on can they be! That was almost 40 years ago but some people are still clueless even though it has gotten worse.

It is like what happened at Woodstock. The locals that were driven by hatred and fear believed the concert goers were evil or detestable. The ones that chipped in for the emergency and talked to the visitors where changed for life with a new belief in the good of humanity. You could tell who was closed minded after the event by how they were affected by it. The bigots driven by hatred and fear told untrue stories of violence and mayhem that they may even believe. Everyone else was amazed by the selflessness and caring of all involved. Something they were totally unaccustomed to and loved to experience. I guess I am dating myself but many of the same people are in the Tea Party movement. Many, many look like they are still hippies at least in my liberal state. They are still fighting the establishment because after voting in liberal democrats that were just as bad maybe even worse than the conservative enemies they grew up fighting. But they still fight for their causes not against an old enemy or for the new guard that they hoped would change things but accelerated us down the same road. These people are involved in helping the needy so they know the result of unbelievably expensive and wasteful government aid to the poor. They did more for the needy with a shoestring budget than the government does with millions. This makes them sick. Compare that to the armchair quarterbacks who are not involved in anything because they give to "charity" every year on April 15th to cure the needy. Who has a sense for what is going on, the intellectual who talks about the plan or the workers who have always worked to achieve the goal that the plan has independent of any plan.

I have not been there since last year. Did they change something. Last year there was no late surrender on any game $25 min and up. The only LS was on games from $5 to $200. Also isn't Little River a H17 place ? Changed ?
