Terrible Comps at Belterra Casino (Indiana)

Worst comp system I've ever heard of. A host told me "We usually expect 5-6 hours of $50 play before we give food comps". Not even worth getting rated. Oh, and pen is worse now, so the games aren't really playable either.

5-6 hours of $50 avg? just for food?

That is horrible, that kind of play can many times get you a free room in vegas at some of the nicer joints.

Yeah. That will get you a suite in some places on a weeknight. But not a coffee shop comp in Horse****, Indiana.

Look at the Financial Statements of Pinnacle Entertainment (owner of Belterra) and you will see why comps are so hard to get. This once high-flying casino owner is on the edge of going under.

Go up the river a little ways, and play at The Grand Victoria casino. No where near as nice, but comps are good.

Don't stay at the casino, a block or two away, in the town of Rising Sun, is a hotel called "The Courtyard". EXCELLENT FOOD, EXCELLENT ENTERTAINMENT, and very nice suites (living room, kitchen, bedroom) that are cheaper than the casino hotel rooms.

Yeah,

I've noticed comps slack off for me as well at Belterra.

Back in the good days of great economy and stuff they was always sending me $25 cash coupons that I could go up and overlap and take them for $50 in one night as well as food comps.

No cash coupons in about 6 months.

I just got a thing from them in the mail for a free night a week for the month of January.

I like their rooms their spacious, comfortable and roomy.

I laugh at offers from Argosy Lawrenceburg

I was there in the Spring for a couple of days. I get mailers offering $2 off dessert, etc. I've never seen lamer offers.

Damn, I think we have a consensus here...Argosy's comps are weak, Belterra's are impossible to get, and Grand Vic is decent. I only get out that way a couple times a year and still manage to get offers from them.

Interestingly enough, the Grand Vic has always been my boat of choice around there. It's not the swankiest, the crowd is often questionable, but the craps tables work for me. Not that this matters to most folks around here. The rooms are OK.

good luck

last time i was out that way those joints had made a complete flip flop.
Grand Vic used to have the best blackjack of the three since they had late surrender and lots of nickle tables. now they've went and made their games h17. got a lot more csm's as well and have been raising the table mins. they had one blackjack switch table.
Argosy hard to find even a ten dollar min table much less a five. they are lousy with csm's even on twenty five dollar min tables lol.
Belterra's been best with more five min tables.

While I must admit Belterra is their low limit tables and consistancy of not raising them especially on Monday nights. They usually keep their tables $5.00 if they do raise table min to $10 the table once you enter the vessel at the very first sit down table is always $5.

On that note,

I went to Horsehoe Southern Indiana to find some absolute garbage today.

They've taken out some of the BLACKJACK tables and replaced them with the biggest bunch of garbage I've ever seen.

TWO CARD CHALLENGE
MINI BACCARRAT
MISSISSIPPI STUD

While the 3rd deck casino floor used to be slammed with Blackjack, I guess they feel the need to place more higher % house games to gain loss revenue up.

Their tables are now Lucky Ladies and they still have a couple 21+3 tables.

Walked out $200 up today none the less.

New table was $25 limit, I talked the Pit Boss down to $15. I tried for 10 but he wouldn't budge past $15.

1 $5 Table
2 $10
1 $15
1 $25

Was Open at Noon.

I visited there recently and literally did not play a hand.

It was like 1am on a weeknight and there were no spots! They have those tables with only 5 spots, and they were all full.

Maybe the worst casino I've ever been to. It's at least tied with Detroit.

i live about 15 minutes from argosy... any new info bout the casinos around here? any of them give a lot of heat?
No real heat. Just crap games. Grand vic went H17, Belterra will not comp anything, and argosy is always full.

That is why i got into AP craps also, so when i get to a place with a bad BJ game i can still make some money and not waste a trip. Its always good to have more then one game in your bag of tricks or at least a few ways to beat a game. Such as shuffle tracking, steering, or holecarding, just so if the game is not a game you cant strait count. Just a thought, take it or leave it. Good luck out there fellas.

Still have yet to make it to indiana for some good old fashioned river boat casino bashing, I was going to attempt a trip there instead of one of my usual trips to vegas but i think ill wait from what i gather here. I just like to go play new places and add them to my list of fallen casinos

There are some 6 deckers, S17 and $10 D10 double deck games with unplayable penetration (less than 50%). Don't expect to even get a snack shop comp for playing several hours at green chip level.

Really nice hotel. 8/10 stars.
