Some have changed

I think the two hand rule has changed. If you are the only player on the table you had to take two positions; now I think you can get by with one

Uk game improved!

Yeah the blackjack rules here in the Uk have changed so that we can now double on any 2 cards, split and resplit any pairs then double after resplit (except aces). My local casino has also started offering a side bet, i avoid it as im unsure of the house edge (perfect pairs i think its called) and i noticed they have started using just 4 decks (probably to improve their edge on the side bet!) I put the rules in the strategy engine and i think it came out around .045% house edge.

The problem is they use csm's so counting is not an option. I am not a counter but if i find a casino locally with a beatable game then i would put in the work and give it a go. btw i have never and i mean never! seen any player in my local casino (grosvenor) playing basic strategy. For this reason i often wonder if a counter would get any heat at all playing here as the players seem to know so little about the game.

Hope this helps!

ch1 nails the rules well. I have never came across CSMs in any of the casinos I've visited, only ever seen 6 deck shoes.

I noticed in vegas that you can split any two cards with value of 10, only pairs can be split over here (JJ etc). Just in case any ploppies are reading this. Lol

Also, remember that in UK there is no hole card. If you're sitting at 3rd base, especially on a Fri or Sat night once everyone has a few drinks in them expect to get plenty of flak for 'taking the dealers bust card'. I tend to avoid it now for a quiet life!

CSM and UK Rules

As the guy says the rules have changed in uk.

A lot of casinos don't use CSM's though. I go to Gala and they use 4 decks and and the dealer shuffles after each shoe, and they also use about 75%+ of the deck.

I have only played blackjack in UK, and here you can play behind another player. Is this common practice, elsewhere in the world?

Blackjack online in the UK....

Trying to find a strategy card for the following house rules:
1)Eight Decks
2)Draw to 16.
3)DD on 8,9,10,11.
4)DD on splits....although no splitting Aces.
5)Normal BJ Pays 3:2
6)Natural Suited BJ pays 2:1
7)5 card 21 pays 2:1
This online version is called the zero lounge as it openly advertises NO House edge.....trying to get my head round if playing perfect strategy Blackjack how they can offer a 100.061%return:cool2:
Have been trying to find out directly from the company, how they generate profit!!!!

Burnsey,

Betfair can possibly lose 6 pence in every 100 GBP if you play perfect strategy. Many clients don't have a clue how to play properly so Betfair's profits come from the uneducated. Also, once you are on the site they can always make money from their other commissionable activities.

I suggest you stick to normal Basic Strategy if you insist on playing.

Casinos Glasgow

Hi

I'm going to the Gala casinos in glasgow 2 weekends time...Hit the riverboat and the merchant city.

Can anyone advise the rules on these games there ie decks, insurance, surrender???(I'm assuming uk casinos don't have this), doubling etc.

It would appreciated as this will be my first time trying a bit of counting..

Thanks

They are 6dk, no insurance or surrrender (even money for your bj against ace though). Double on any 2 cards, DAS, split as many times as you want. 1 card for split aces (although you can resplit I think). No dealer hole card.

JUst remember you are playing European BJ and not American BJ and the Basic Strategy is different. So whatever rules the casino has is small change compared to this.

Didn't know there would be any real difference between american and european stratgey..is it major?

I'm using basic strategy that i've got from kevin blackwood..the only difference I really thought would have been surrender rule?

Any help appreciated?

Almost all BJ books and websites including the one you mentioned are for American BJ and not European BJ.
The differences occur everytime the dealer shows a 10 or and Ace. You can figure out that this is 2 out of every 13 cards he pull. I would say this makes it a different game.
Try reading up on the Wizard of Odds website to get the correcy BS.
