Anyone know BJ rules in San Jose Costa Rica?

San Jose, Costa Rica

BJ is not lawful in Costa Rica, unless things have changed in the past couple of years.

They deal low stakes "Rommy" or "Rummy" which is identical to our Spanish 21

This is how Spanish 21 got its Spanish name.

My post of Nov.12th was incorrect.

BJ is not lawful in Costa Rica, unless things have changed in the past couple of years.

They deal low stakes "Rommy" or "Rummy" which is NOT identical to our Spanish 21 as I had said.

I have an outline of the rules, but it is not a game that you can easily beat.

P.M. me if you want them.

I was there recently (4 years ago :)

and although most of the games were indeed rummy, I did see a couple of real blackjack games.

Indeed, when I was there I found one casino that was willing to deal BJ )upon request), if the stakes were high enough.

They would deal $25 to $200 and the penetration would be about 70%. They tried to not show the dealer's face down card whenever the player busted.

Not worth the trouble.

Just an update to this post. The DelRay hotel in downtown San Jose has a legal casino. It has been a couple years since we were last there but If I recall correctly the BJ was 6/5, 6D, DAS, hand delt, 70% pen.

Back when I was there I was not so accomplished in counting so I really can't give you a realistic value on the game but given the 6/5 BJ that would be enough of a not worth you're time. There was also another casino just a couple blocks away.

In Costa Rica even though there are many American's there in San Jose I personaly would not be applying anything but limited advantage play there for fear of ending up in a dumpster.

On a lighter note the Marlin Bar has one of the best collection of young ladies on the planet.

What Marlin meant was that the Bar has an excellent selection of female adolescent prostitutes.

Prostitution is completely legal in C.R. at age 14, as it is in many countries e.g. Japan.

The "girls" are licensed, carry I.D. showing their biweekly medical examination.

He said marlin bar, not sure if he meant a bar bear his name which he may own or just a coincidence... :?

Are you aware of what the legal "age of consent" is
n most countries and in the various United States ?

I think that you would be surprised.

Just to clarify a few things yes they girls are young there but from my best recollection most were in their early twenty's range, no 14 year olds for sure.

There is about 100 to 150 of them on any given night in the that bar know as The Blue Marlin (no affiliation with myself) located in the lobby of the DelRay Hotel in downtown San Jose. http://www.delreyhotel.com/

The ratio of ladies to men ten to one. Knowledge of the Spanish language is not required. Cuban's, Columbian's, CR's, Equador, Dominican Republic, you name it. Looks like the damn United Nations.

A hell of allot of fun and some place that every red blooded male must do just once in his life. The fishing is great there too but it was too hard to get the crew away from that damned bar for a couple days.
