Advice?

My wife and I are going to Vegas 10/4 to 10/10 to see the Cher and Donnie & Marie shows. We will be staying on the strip at Paris and Bally's. Either of these OK to play BJ at as I play basic strategy and cannot really count (although I try to pay attention to 10's) Thanks!

Be careful when "paying attention the tens" because you can easily see lots of 10s come out and quickly forget that the hand before all low cards came out!

You guys are staying at a Harrah's property and want to see shows at Harrah's properties.

If that's the case I suggest you should gamble at Harrah's properties simply to get some comped stuff on your final bill.

I admit I loathe Harrah's with a passion and I refuse to gamble there because indeed, they are raping blackjack. BUT in your case, you have accomodation and shows to see at Harrah's places. As such, it is probably the best convenience to gamble there.

If I may suggest; stay at Paris but gamble at Planet Hollywood. PHo have 6d 3:2 H17 DAS DA2 LS RSA blackjack at $25 or above, which is pretty much the best you can get at any Harrah's property in Vegas without playing black chips.

Stick to basic strategy and flat bet. Pester for free drinks, use delaying tactics to slow down actual hands per hour, and make lots of banter at the tables. This will pump up your comps.

DA2 means "double on any 2-card hand" (even after a split). This is as opposed to some places - like the Caesars "party pit" (or whatever it's called, with the go-go dancer) and in Tahoe generally, where you may double only on a 2-card 10 or 11.

Personally, I don't ever give any Harrah's outfits a dime. They are raping blackjack.
The more I play at HET properties, the more I dislike them.

I just can't understand why I'm trying to get their Diamond card.

true enough unless you play high dollar tables.

but i have to be fair. their locals treat us like royalty. great room and food comps and decent (not optimal) table rules. i play 2-3x month have acum only about 2000 pts and am gold tiered with no chance for platinum/diamond and still get treated well.

when i go to vegas i sit at their 5 dollar table for one day, can usually play even BJ just to justify the comped rooms. it kills me to do it as to them it justifies the 6-5 tables, and not sure if i need to do it, but it keeps the comps coming and harrah's/ceasars is a great loc on the strip.

My Diamond will be history when it expires. I got it primarily playing veinte uno in AC, and had it for a bunch of years. Now that I no longer get to AC very often, it's history. It's nice to bypass the lines at the restaurants and hotel check-in, but other than that, it's not of much value. All the comps are based on your play, not your tier score.

The free food in the Diamond Player's Lounges can come in handy at times, especially in A.C. The Diamond card will also get you and one guest one free buffet per day at the Harrah's in New Albany. And if you like to exercise it will also get you and a guest a free trip to the spa in any Harrah's casino. And time is money. As I walk the L.V. strip making one or two Kathy bets per casino, the time I save by using the "Diamond only" cashout lanes at the cages is quite valuable. I estimate my Diamond card to be worth more than a FEW hundred dollars per year.

I like it for general travel. Three squares and a flop in all kinds of places, all I have to do is give them a little gentle play and I'm welcome back. And in AC I don't have to be gentle! Earn it there, use it elsewhere.

Someone posted something about Diamond-in-a-Day (DIAD) awhile back, but I forgot where it was.

If I DIAD in Dec 2010, when does the Diamond card expire?

If I DIAD in Jan 2011, when does the Diamond card expire?

If I acheive Diamond using the real 11,000 TIER points by Dec 2010, when does that Diamond card expire?

If I wait til Jan 2011, then get ther Diamond card using the real 11,000 TIER points in Jan 2011, when does that Diamond card expire?

If I wait til Apr 2011, then get ther Diamond card using the real 11,000 TIER points in Apr 2011, when does that Diamond card expire?
